How many people have the Banks Six-Gun Tuner and Speed-Loader ? Do you like it or are you have problems? I just got 2005 Chevy duramax and thinking of getting the banks stuff.

BFAB3,

Go down a little on the LLY page and read "LLY banks 6-gun, any more input---". It will answer some of your questions.

Robgmcman,
What have you tried so far to remedy your problem?

Banks installed my system. This is what i have told banks and they are having me send in my unit.

-Biggest problem is when I am on any level including one the following will happen.

I will start getting on the freeway or just speeding up with normal traffic on the road. Peddle is not down all the way. The truck will power up and change gears then it will all the sudden give me a pooof pooof roooof and it feels like the engine lost a few cylinders and is cutting out. I have been told by many people that it sounds like I am barking the turbo(where a van is not closing as letting air back threw the turbo the wrong way.). This happens at least once every time I drive my truck.

<o:p> </o:p>

This only started when I got above 4500 feet in elevation.

<o:p> </o:p>

Facts <o:p></o:p>

LLy 05 truck 7500 miles now about 4500 miles when installed.

You did the install in <st1:City><st1:place>Azusa</st1:place></st1:City>.

I am know living in <st1:State><st1:place>Colorado</st1:place></st1:State>

Steps taken<o:p></o:p>

Looked at gauges to see what was happening. This was something you guys wanted me to take note of. and report back. The boost gauge went up to 20psi in level 1 then it shifted and went to 10psi all was still ok. After that it sifted and went to 5psi and it started its problem and as the problem was taking place there was no boost. There were also no fault codes after I pulled over about 5 miles down the road with the truck still running.

I have taken the 6 gun out and have tested it for over a week. My truck is back to normal and running better then ever. No problems with anything. Even my MPG went back up.

There was a problem almost exactly like this posted quite a while back about the 6-gun on one of the LB7 trucks. It turned out NOT to be the 6-gun at all. There was something (I can't remember at this time) wrong with the truck itself, and it had to be serviced. It wasn't noticable until the 6-gun was hooked up, in which it amplified the problem. Keep us posted as to what you find out.

I am finding out some of the same things are happening but not as easly seen with out banks. Let me know if you are able to remmember what it was that was wrong. I would love a few answers.

Starting with the truck itself, I would take it to the dealer and have them hook up a Tech II to see if anything comes up. There may be updates for the 2005 models also.

I just put the Banks system on my 2004 LLY ZF 6 speed, it kicks ass, it was the best investment to my truck yet. They just introduced an intercooler that adds another 75 ft lbs of TQ!
Remember Banks is the only one that most dealerships will tolerate, there is a reason for that.:grd:

Try taking your truck in with a fried clutch......looking for warrrenty work
Youll see that NO dealership will do anything for you

Who told you that dealers will "tolerate" a banks kit

I've put one one my truck..was great at first...and now it's in the shop with 2 melted pistions and warranty will not cover due to Banks was the problem..the truck has only 3,400 miles on it..Banks gives you a nice sale's pich but when something's wrong they won't help you like they say they would..like if anything goes wrong or if banks prod. is the problem we'll back you up ect..now I'm stuck with a bill to Replace the motor 12k-15k...I cant even get banks to Return my phone call's..and was only useing setting 3 on the speed loader...I wish I would of Read some of these web site's before I bought mine..I've read at other sites..wish you luck with your's..but keep in mind the dealer knows if there's been a after market on the truck even if you take it off before you take it in...there comp. can go back approx. 200 start-ups and codes ect..

I would like to see/hear more info about this problem with melting pistons. There are guys on here running some big power ie: stacks, and this is the first time I have heard of any motor related problems. Anyone else?

Any techs care to reply on the "look back to see what you are running" statement.

Sandking, just a few questions, did you run your egt's up to high? Where you towing? Pulling anything?

Too bad you received a bad motor and now the dealership can blame it on Banks. How, exactly, can they prove the tuner was at fault?

Take it or leave it -

Unless you have more $$$ money than you know what to do with - you shouldn't monkey around with anything until your warranty expires - PERIOD - but hey go for it cause I mean what's the big deal if you blow the engine it will only cost about $9000 to replace ...:muahaha:Cause don't forget giggles it's labor as well as parts ...

Sorry to post this,YOU MUST GET THE CURRENT FLASH FROM GM,The Tuner is program for the lastest flash from GM .Some 05 have it but most 04.5 do not,All the customers that have had the tuner with the new Flash have been happy with both.Follow the relearning procedure and the LLY and tuner will function correctly.( If previously install)Thier are a couple of procedure changes if still functions poorly. Post it and I will email a different procedure. The Members that have it Please don"t post it.

That's exactly what I've been thinking it would be all along. It explains why some people have no problems with the LLY 6-gun and others do.
