I am getting close to purchasing 2003 24 foot 5th wheel camper. I like the turnover ball concept but I have a couple of questions. The 5th wheel hitches have large bearing surface vs. turnover ball hitch having only ball surface.. Is this a problem with long term wear? I also noticed an adapter you can purchase that bolts to bottom of trailer hitch that converts to truck bed ball on turnover. Do you get good service with this type of hookup and towing capabilities with this setup? I would like to one day purchase a gooseneck utility trailer to use with the turnover type hitch...

i went with the gn ball over the big hitch, because of the extra space and would highly recommended it, so far no wearing problems, i add a little grease every so often and all is OK, with the 2500, i feel we cannot pull something heavy enought to cause excessive ware

I run the B&W turnover ball and the fifth wheel companion hitch setup- works great, the only drwawback is the upfront $$. Most trailer manufactures will void the warranty if you use a fifth wheel to GN adapter, and it ride/pulls alot rougher, the fifth wheel hitch takes alot of the "jerk" out of pulling a trailer due to the pivot action. Check out here http://www.rv.net and do a search for B&W.

I love my B&W for my goose. I have not yet found a lubricant that could hold up to the pressure. I spray some silicon junk on the ball for good measure.

i pull my fifth with a GN adapter made by pop up industries, called the RV-1. it has a 5 inch offset which is really nice when backing. Cant say i have experienced a rough ride yet, been on all sorts of rode surfaces/conditions and it is very stout. I like the clean bed with just turning the ball over also.

very happy with the setup and no problems to speak of.

I talked with the guy that helped install my B&W last night. He said some guy forgot to put the pin back in that holds the ball in place. When it came out, he hit the brakes and the ball destroyed his bed. Don't forget!!
