i used a paint cap but most people use a pvc cap, and it's not gonna hurt you at all.

pvc cap? do you just put it in the hose and tighten the clamp, and then what leave the resonator off?

I used a 2" pipe plug.

This gives you a general idea of what it looks like. You can replace the resonator to keep things looking stock if you want to. I also drilled the bolt and put a cotter pin in it to keep the wing nut in place after it was tightened down.

is there any power gain or is the whole purpose just to increase the whistle?

No noticable power gain for me. I did it to keep crap out of the turbo if/when that resonator gets a crack in it. SPICER had that exact thing happen on his truck, and for $2 it is a cheap and easy preventative fix.

also did you remove the hose and plug the intake hose or plug the resontor inside the hose?

My truck whistled pretty good before, and plugging the resonator did enhance that a bit.

To remove the resonator on my LLY, I unscrewed the torx bolt at the front, and loosened the hose clamp at the base of the resonator. I then removed the resonator and put the plug where the resonator came off. The resonator fits back on over everything.

As this is really an air upgrade, let's move the discussion over to that forum for continued discussion...
