I am really considering the Predator for my truck. My concern is the fact that I have 129,000 miles on the truck. I had all 8 injectors replaced @ 72,000. Haven't had any other issues since. I put about 40-50,000 miles per year on it, could I safely use the Predator at this point in the trucks life without much issue. I'm sure the engine can handle it, but the tranny? I drive pretty responsibly about 92.5379% of the time. Thanks for your opinions!

I sold a Superchips programmer to a guy with over 200,000 on his '01 Dmax. He tows a lot with it and has put almost 40K on since he bought it. He always has it turned on, just depends on how high whether he is pulling w/it or not. He hasn't had any probs so far, and this guy can test vehicles and never takes it easy on anything.

The Predator would be a great choice.I personally think the Edge is better for the LB7. I had one on 1 of my 01's for more miles than your truck has on it. Like some of the extra features better, like Ally protection. What ever you decide have fun!

I'm sort of scared of the Edge product. Seems that a alot of people on here have problems out of it. Even though most are small ones, my job takes me all over the southeast and don't want to have one 6 hours from home. I do want the extra playing power but not really looking for the track type of set up the Edge provides. I would feel safer with the Six Gun. I just see so many with the Predator without problems so far. And it is much cheaper. Just wanted to make sure the truck would stand up at this point.
Thanks!:)
More opinions welcomed!

The basic Edge box on the LB7 have very few issue's. Also bear in mind that there are probrably 4 times more Edge boxes out ther. Cost of one without the Attitude would be about the same as the new Predator, and you get the Ally protection. With 129,000 miles on your tranny I would think the Ally protection would be important. I have had Edge boxes since they first came out. There were some issue's back then, but they have long since been corrected on the LB7. I think there are some LLY problems right now with the Edge. The Predator box with the LB7 will overpower the Alley if you crank it up. My wife says the Predator on her LB7 gets better fuel mileage, and it does have diagnostics. Do a little checking around the vendor forum. Someone may let you return an Edge for a Predator if you're not happy with it. What ever you try, I'm sure you will have fun.

Ok, so on an '05........
When driven on the street, not towing, and driving the truck "easy", is there any proof that better mileage will be seen from the 65 HP Predator tune as opposed to the 40HP tune?

On my 04.5 I got better MPG on the 40 than I did on any of the other settings. This was strictly highway driving on the cruise and MT. Towing up a hill did a little better on the 65, but I did not have an EGT gauge then and did not feel safe towing heavy on that setting. All in all the differance was trivial.
