: Re-Painting the front bumper air dam.
Melvin Hatcher 02-13-2005, 08:47 PM Has anyone out there repainted the front air dam black to match the black vinyl molding on the front bumper and door side molding, if so what type of paint did you use and did you use any type of special primer to keep the paint from peeling off the plastic air dam?
gearhead 02-14-2005, 09:37 AM wall-mart has "Fusion" paint for plastic, cant remember who makes it but that is what I used on mine. has only been on for two days so I cant say how long it will last.

Melvin Hatcher 02-14-2005, 09:00 PM well here it is :cool2: :thumb:Thank you very much. It looks every bit as good as I had imagined. I am defiantly painting mine this week.
_nar_ 02-14-2005, 09:55 PM That would look even better if the chrome part was painted black too... Looks much better that way than with the dumb gray on the bottom though
gearhead 02-14-2005, 10:12 PM I had thought about painting it blue to match the truck but I think the black looks good. I hated that grey and when I bought the fog light kit I thought it was a perfict time to paint it before I put them on.
lbz492 02-14-2005, 10:15 PM that looks so much better then the ugly gray it came with. i don't know why they would have the one part on the truck that color. they should of made it black or color match from the factory.
VegasTinMan 02-14-2005, 10:22 PM Gearhead, Nice work with that air dam. I am assuming that if you put the fog lights in yourself, you also had do wire and control them. Does the wiring harness have unused plugs near the fog lights that you tapped into or did you have to run wire. Did yuo have to add a relay? How do you control them? Seperate switch or do they come on with the headlights?
joshz06 02-14-2005, 11:31 PM I had the top and bottom painted black to match. The shop just primed and painted. Holding up great so far.

every thing came in the kit, wire, lights, switch, relay, air dam, hardware, and directions. but the truck already had the wires there. all I had to do was install the lights, plug in the relay in the underhood fuse box, and install the switch. all factory stuff. the plug that plugs into your cargo light plugs into the new cargo-fog light switch assembly, air dam took the longest
the best part is it is ALL FACTORY STUFF :exactly: :cool2:

That is one fantastic looking truck. Did you removed front fender flair, or did you have it painted also?
My truck is black, with black fender flairs. However, they are not painted body color, just a semi-gloss black plastic. Also, what did you do to the grille, replace or paint?
:cool2:
Melvin Hatcher 02-15-2005, 08:43 PM well here it is :cool2: :thumb: Did you remove the air dam to paint it, or paint it in place on the truck?

it was off the truck.
Melvin Hatcher 02-15-2005, 09:06 PM it was off the truck. How much trouble was it to remove?
:thankyou2
joshz06 02-15-2005, 10:15 PM I just pulled off the fender flares and buffed the paint. The old grill was cut out and the new installed. I removed the upper pad and the valance. The valance was easy but the upper pad took some time. Its best to remove the entire bumber first.

not too bad, it took about a 1/2 hour to remove all the plastic two piece pins.
