I believe that is true. If you can look in the muffler you might be able to see if there are small openings in it. If it was facing forward it traps the air before it exits deadening the sound. If you turn it around the air flows right through and less sound is trapped. I think I got that right. I am sure someone will chime in and either tell me I am wrong or confirm it. I believe that's the way it is on the mbrp mufflers. Keep us posted.

I have heard of this too but I can't say I have ever done it.
It sounds like it should work.
Can you install the muffler loose and try it both ways?

I know with most glasspacks or cherry bombs on a gasser thats how they work.

It will not work with the Magnaflow muffler as it is basically the same from either side. MBRP and Silverline mufflers have the spiraled flutes which can catch some sound if turned around.

A louvered muffler will be quieter with openings facing the rear. If facing forward it louder. Magnaflow is perforated. I won't make a difference either way.

Well there isnt any direction of flow on our mufflers and they internally built the same front to back. There shouldnt be any change is sound at all.

What? MBRP and silverline have "reversible" mufflers. Cutting edge stuff. My dad was welding up louvered glass packs in the mid 50s for Pearly's muffler in Pasadena Ca. If the openings face forward they will be louder and the flow rate drops. We use a louverd core. Why? because they are cheaper to make not because they are "reversible". They still flow plenty of air either way.
Magna flows do make more power. I've seen on an engine dyno. The motor was a small block chevy building a little over 600hp. Joe Sherman built the motor and won the engine master chalenge. They built up to 10hp more than any other "performance" muffler on the market.

Jerod.

Wow, thanks for the history lesson. I dont ever remember claiming it was "cutting edge," rather explaining the difference.
