I've read a lot about it, I am making biodiesel using the appleseed design, but would like to give solvent blending a chance. Has anybody tried it, I know it works well in older diesels.

If you're making biodiesel already-you're doing it the right way. I know there's probably going to be the typical "I've been doing it for XX,XXX miles and it works great" response, but solvent thinning on an HPCR injection system is bad news. I feel like it is playing with fire to do it even on older injection systems, though I know several people who have had good luck so far with it. I also know of a couple people who have lunched IP's doing it as well, so take that for what it's worth.

Thanks for the replies, my main interest in it is for when I travel. It's a lot easier to mix a batch of solvent blended fuel on the road than it is to make a batch of bio. What do you think if it was mixed 50-50 with reg diesel or bio?

That may well be true, but it's not easier to have to change plugged filters or IP's.

If you're carrying the oil with you to blend in anyway, why not make enough bio ahead of time and bring with you? There's very little difference in weight or volume between the oil itself and the biodiesel, so you have nothing to gain from carrying oil instead of bio.

Why not just dump Gasoline in your Diesel same effect, Let us know how it works out and Good luck with that.
