Hey guys, owned a 6.2 Sub, and a 6.2 CUCV now I have moved up to a 6.5 1994 GMC 2500 Suburban. great truck, really love it but need to improve it some. It has 119,000mi I know I need to move the PMD and most likely improve the cooling system, is there anything else assuming that it has had zero maintenance mechanically. Also It is a SLE package and has a leather int. that is worn out. It could be saved by a seamstress, but I really need a complete interior, headliner and carpet. Anybody have any locations for parts trucks or know of any in the eastern iowa....illinois, or missouri area...thanks

Junkyard is going to be your best bet, that or Ebay.
As far as maintenance, let me give you a little advice. When I got my truck, people had me TERRIFIED that the 6.5 was the worst engine ever built that this thing was gonna kerplode.
Here is my advice. Run it. When you run into a problem, come here for the info on how to fix it right, and do it. If you get into a tinkerin mood, look here for the weak points on this truck and upgrade. Keep the oil and coolant clean.
My truck has the PMD in the original spot, original injectors, burnt tranny fluid, one plugged tire, unmatched batteries, giant dent in bed, and has never let me down yet.

Well for the short time I have had a 6.5 and been on this site, free flow exhaust, new down pipe and crossover, gauges if you plan on doing any towing.Turbo Master is nice to get rid of the vaccum pump, and if you really want to get more out of the engine,a ecm upgrade.I`m sure you will get alot more ideas from others.

You can get a turbomaster from heath diesel. http://www.heathdiesel.com/P/HDP1243/
Or you can make one like I did, it cost me about $10 and thats only because I bought someone else's old leaky waste gate actuator to cut up and use instead of cutting up the one on my truck which was still good. You'll need a boost gauge to set it which is another $30 or so. Even buying a turbomaster and vac gauge is cheaper than buying a new vacuum pump alone.
