Guys I need some advice from the pros. I'm looking at a 2001 2500hd LS D/A cc sb with 65k. Best price I got was 26k. The only mods that have been done are K&N intake system and removed the muffler. Should I go through with the purchase or do you guys think I could get a better deal if i wait. Thanks

Post the VIN in the Ask the Techs forum and see if it's got any ghosts in its past.

You quite often see people selling trucks here 03's and 04's for 30k.

I have an 04.5 3500 for under 27. Check the classifieds. Lots of other trucks in there.

Thanks for info. My problem is I have a vehicle to trade so I cant buy from a private owner unless they are interested in my trade. My only option is to shop dealers. I did run the vin but I dont totally inderstand it. Take a look and let me know please. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23949
I talked to the guy that just traded it to the dealer, he had it for 8 months and didnt have any problems except for the fuel pressure regulator. Told me he traded to lower his payment. He was paying 630 a month. I am paying 500 for a vehicle I regret buying and never drive. If I make the deal payment drops, which is good but I dont want to regret this move in 2 years or so when I decide to move up to a new truck.

I bought my 01 2500HD LT CC/LB for around $21k with 90K miles. You will probably have to have the injectors replaced. It will be under warranty, but you may be down due to the backorder for several weeks.

I would not do a deal with a trade in. Only give the dealer one item of negotiations. By saying this I mean the price of the truck you are trying to buy. If you give them the option of your trade in they can make one offer look really great and cover the other one with tricks to hide the facts.

yeah I never told them I had a trade until they gave me that price. I know what I want out my car dollar wise but do you think this a good price for the truck?

Well, if you check Kelly Blue Book and NADA online, that is pretty much what they are worth. I have 65k on mine and I wouldn't sell it for under $25k, granted I have quite a few mods.

The best way to trade is to take your used vehicle to used car lots and see how high you can get them to pay. Depending on what it is, you may be able to sell it directly to a used lot for more than you could get on trade. Then you can buy from anyone.
