Man that setup is awesome. Only.... how much?

"TRUCKS" is a one-half hour commercial geared specifically to selling after market items. Clean hands, clean floor and the appearance of everything being as easy as eating a filet mignon. Probably 5 mechanics behind the camera. How long do you expect that Dodge he was squirrling around with will hold up?

A while back someone posted here that they met and spoke with Stacey David at SEMA, and he supposedly does do all the work on the show, and a few of the projects are actually his own personal vehicles. But I do agree that it is a big commercial, interrupted by several smaller ones...

Nobody is gonna comment on the rear view camera? The thing was suction cupped to the tailgate ):h Stacey did say it could be permanently mounted though, I think.

I like the camera Idea for the Goosneck. It would be nice to have it in the bed. Sometimes I'm "on the money" and other times....well, I an't so good.Censored The camera would be a big help to me.:D

Burner: Amen on hitting the gooseneck. Call it a brainf@rt, but I didn't think of that before getting the crew cab. Makes hooking up that much more fun... Love the crew cab, though. I ain't goin' back!

Copied from an old thread:
How can I put this nicely?

Mel was not much for working on cars/trucks. After a couple seasons it was clear the Mel was more interested in exposure to movie and TV producers than he was working on trucks. So they parted ways.

Stacey said that producers wanted to have another sidekick for Stacey David. Stacey said "Why, the trucks are the stars here, no one watches the show to see me or anyone else". I told him except for my wife, she watches the show to see him . He actually got embarrassed and started laughing. He said "OK, I have one fan club member".

Interesting fact: Stacey owns Copperhead, the Bronco and a couple others. He said that this way there was no question on where they go after they are done. Upside is he gets all the royalty’s from the trucks he owns.

Also, interesting fact: except for jobs that require heavy lifting or just another set of hands to steady. He does all the wrenching on the projects. He said there are no “off camera mechanics”.

And you know this how????

I spoke with Stacy for about a 1/2 hour at the SEMA show in November and several times via e-mail since.

HE and he alone does all the wrenching on everything in the shop. On occasion he has someone come in to help move/lift some of the heavy stuff. There are no off camara mechanics.

Remember when he had a side kick, Mel.

Mel left trucks because he was not mechanical and was there for the exposure, Stacys words from his mouth.

Stacy also OWNS all the ground up rebuild trucks on the show.

He has a great shop set up and can make anything look easy with all the proper tools.

Its the only show I will stop what I am doing to watch on the weekends.

It is taped TV. They can start and stop as they see fit. Why would anyone have to rush out during commercials?

What always amazed me, however, is how they take the projects apart after the show on Saturday so they can rebuild them for the same show on Sunday. Can't hardly tell unless you look real close-like.:D
