DTC - 33 MAP sensor circuit error (signal high indicating low vacuum)
33
EGR Control Pressure/BARO Sensor Circuit High (Low Vac)

what does this exactly mean? what I am looking at here, or need to replace..
Thank guys!

looks like you may need a vac pump. its run off the serpentine belt as a diesel produces no intake vacuum.

Check your vacuum at the waste gate and the sensors (on the drivers valve cover) if it's low or zero could be broken line, or like Dave said the vac pump could be done.

well I priced out the vac pump... 213 cdn.
I dont have a wastegate.
I'll have to check the lines.

Unless you removed it you have a wastegate. It's built into the base of the turbo. A vac. line go to a cannister (Wastegate actuator) that is connected to the wastegate by a rod. Leo

i havent had a chance to check out my lines... and about your vac pump.. I am interested, BUT i think shipping might be a little much to bring a used pump into canada..
How would this low/no vacuum affect the engine?

just depends on who you ship with.

i know UPS ships to canada but they have a mystery fee so they are out. what about fedex or the postal service?

Don't assume its the vacuum pump. My truck coded 32 and 33. It turned out to be the centre EGR solenoid that caused the problem.

so how did u know it was your centre egr solenoid??? and not ur vac pump?

I am getting my ses light on idle, constant speed and very very light accerlation. and it goes off on moderate to heavier acceleration, then back on again once i let off.

It wasn't very scientific. I just started replacing things, starting with the solenoids. My check light would come on at idle, moderate speeds and acceleration but would go out at highway speeds. It would always go out if I shifted into neutral or park when stopped. I should have checked it with a vacuum gauge but I live in the sticks and didn't have easy access to one.

As said before, use vacuum gauge to measure the pressure. Also make sure that the tube from the vac pump to wastegate solenoid to the turbo is good. There are cases where the one that is bad is just the tubes not the pump.

ya my lite is on for idling in drive, and low accerlation. goes out with med acceleration and in park.

Fedex is good I have been shipped a few things by Fedex. Go that route.

just repeating a signature and dave here....but elky is NA...Naturally Aspirated...no turbo boys, we fill out our sigs to get better advice, and get yelled at when they aren't filled out, so how bout spending the 30 seconds to read them....not trying to offend anyone but your blowing smoke up elky's ass telling him to fix his wastegate....

today I finally got around to looking at my truck.. And found the problem... one of my vacuum lines to one of my egr solenoids somehow managed to come out, so after putting it back in its place (but secured it real good) I havent had the ses light some on since.

It's great when the simple cheap stuff is the problem... it's really a bad thing when you've spent $700 on a hose that falls off.

I just think it is astounding that you would have a DTC on Tuesday, read the code, and wait 'til Sunday to pop the hood to find a hose off, yet finding the time to post several times on an internet forum.

wow

Sorry lads, didn't mean anything in particular, just sort of expressing (out loud, so to type) my reaction (I was astounded) when I read the outcome.

Ship by postal service!

Fedex has the same ripoff charges that UPS does, for cross border transport.

They bill it out about a month after you take delivery, from a place in Winnipeg.

$12 in GST owed, came to a bill for over $60, by the time they added in their fees for "service"

Y'all been warned! :-)

Cheers

I know what your saying about finding time to post messages on here.... BUT its easy to come on here late at night (when its dark outside/cant see under the hood)and post and try to problem solve. Not that I was trying to put it off... But other stuff sometimes finds a way of taking higher priority, and not necessarily knowing what the problem is, I dont want to start taking stuff apart and be without a vehicle.

Very wise elky... I too am very tired in front of keyboard... it's raining and windy so bad right now I don't want to even go out to the bus right now. It's better to have a good understanding of what's up before looking into buying parts. Education is much cheaper than ignorance.
