Got a 92 6.5 Turbo diesel that smokes like a chimney. It almost gives you instant lung cancer. It is just unbearable when it is cold, gets a little better when it warms up, but it's still terrible. Thinking it is some sort of fuel rich condition. Any ideas???

Do a search here on what the color of the smoke is and you'll find tons of threads.

Generally speaking, If it's white you have a fuel system, vacuum or glo related problem.

what color is the smoke and when does it do it?
black smoke - lack of air(mouse nest in airbox for example, ask me how i know)
blue smoke - oil being burned(bad CDR valve, oil overfull)
white smoke at startup - worn injectors or glow plugs
white smoke while engine running and up to temp - cracked head, cracked block or blown headgasket.
the last two are very important as to when the smoke is happening.
a diesel cannot run "rich" or "lean" really. the fuel is adjusted to make the engine speed change. on a gas engine the amount hte throttle plate is open adjusts the engine speed. at idle a diesel is running as "lean" as possible. if you've got black smoke when you "get on it" or just when driving you've got an air intake blockage. it could be something as simple as a dirty air filter, or an EGR valve(if equipped) thats stuck open, or you could have a seized turbo if you want to get into the expensive side of things.

Its more of a white/blue. Its not losing any oil so I guess I would lean more towards white. It smokes bad all the time but extremely bad when its cold...

has the truck ever been overheated? once will do it. these trucks will toast the headgaskets, crack heads or at the worst crack the block itself when overheated. any way you can take a video of it and post it here? that be a great way to show us exactly what is going on.
