: Turbo hiss with full exhaust?

I am planning to install a complete exhaust without the cat on my 2005 to get rid of the drone at 1700 RPM and for some quicker response. I am little concerned about the hiss from the vane turbo at cruising. I can hear it now with everything stock and its little annoying but I don't like the drone the stock system seems to produce.
Is that hiss very loud without the cat? Planning a system like the 4 inch from Kennedy, that looks good to me because it seems very well made and comes complete front to back without anything extra to buy. Also the power and torque measurements from Kennedys website look good. I am just little concerned about the hiss....
Any info is welcome, thanks!

If I have the windows down, mine sounds like a jet taking off. High pitched scream. Not as bad with the windows up, but I can still hear it.

I'm running catless and mufflerless though. With the stock muffler still on (no cat), it didn't scream at all. Didn't notice that much change in sound.

I have a full system on mine as well.....it sounds like a fighter jet at wot....I like it personally.

Sounds like for normal daily driving (mostly the wife drives the truck) I have to look for something else! Like something more mellow than a fighter jet at takeoff!
Thanks guys!

Does the LLY exhaust really have a mind numbing high pitched screaming noise McRat?

With no cat but with the stock muffler mine makes no different noise in the cab, except more turbo whistle. :ro)The hissing can be heard when standing next to the exhaust but not in the cab. Oh well... I can live with it. The extra turbo whistle is sweet. Now when I ride with dad his always sounds too quiet.

From the outside of the truck, it's pretty loud, and just like a turbojet at 100% power on takeoff.

Inside, you can tell how much boost you're making by the pitch of the scream.

At first I thought it was the tires squealing. I first heard it on a dyno. Now I realize what it actually is.

I have Flowmaster on my LB7 and it sounds really good! I get compliments all the time, even by other Dmax owners with something else on their truck.

The LB7 does not "scream" that loud because the turbo has no adustable vanes.... Guess I have to live with my LLY.......and the hiss.
Any LLY owner had the full MBRP system installed?
Thanks

Geez... and I do everything I can to make them whistle, drone and bark. It's not often you hear your own truck drive off with someone else at the wheel. Had it inspected the other day and had another chance to hear it from afar.

Light accel (Cummins) I get a distinct whistle coming out of the exhaust. Once the pedal gets pushed the exhaust overpowers the whistle.

I'm in love

Dodge spent years and millions of dollars on cam lobe profile design and reflective exhaust resonator research, focused on one goal:

"How can we make our pickup sound EXACTLY like a UPS truck?"

Obviously it was money well spent. Not only does their diesel line sound like a UPS truck, they got the same sound into the Viper and SRT-10!!!
