What a great site you guys have hear and an excellent group of very knowledgeable peeps. I found the most likely answer to my problem already by using the search button ;) sounds like the nsbu is out.

been noticeing a problem in the shifing of this allison. finally, on 2-11-04, i dont have any lights on gear selector except R, and 3rd gear. and it will not shift, except into those 2 ranges. when it does go into 3rd, it shift into it really hard, i assume because its skipping the other lower gears thus creating the lunge into 3rd ? sound right so far?

So, with a little more searching i found a site mentioned here and ordered a nsbu switch for 60 bucks plus 9 dollars shipping. I printed out some instructions on here and i am very handy around auto's, been years since i went to school for it and never got into makeing a living at it, but never the less very comfortable with doing this. Seems very easy and with a great site like this one feel like i can find any answer to any question i may have. This has just become one of my favorites list and will recommend many , many friends to this site. Thank you guys so much for the help. AWESOME. :)

We are not insane. Maybe a little Censored in the head is all. Nothing a triple dose of prozac wouldn't cure. :D

well, i got it in and it fixed the problem!! :)

BUT, being the impatient person i am , while i was un-plugging the top wiring harness from the NSBU, i broke one of the wires, GREEN i believe, its too short to tie back together, so, where i get a new harness for it would be my next question. ;(

You can get the connector pigtails seperately at the dealer. I don't know the part number but they will be able to look it up. Just tell them if it's the 7 or 4 pin.
