: fuel filter and exhaust questions
ServiceOnSite 05-03-2008, 10:59 PM what im looking for is in your own words the best exhaust upgrade for a 95 6.5 td. my truck has 200k on it and will be used as a dump truck. im not looking for legal or noise just fuel economy and function. what works for you. also im guessing that i need to replace my fuel filter. kinda hard starting in the morning. once it starts she runs great. i dont have a manual as far as what do do for changing the filter goes. i know you have to reprime the fuel system and that what i dont know how to do.
please dont say do a search. i did. i didnt find the answers that i was looking for thats why im startin a new thread...... thanks in advance.
I think any 3 1/2" -4" exhaust with or without muffler would work. Warpspeed is probably the best buy. To bleed your fuel filter loosen the small cap on the top with the nipple and supply power to pin "G" as shown in FAQs or with the shift lever in drive turn the ign. to start on your 95. When all air is removed tighten the cap. Leo

AlbertaRedneck 05-04-2008, 12:03 AM If you are in Canada, Warpspeed/Flo-Pro 4" exhaust is deff. the way to go, as they have a Canadian shop that ships out the systems, to avoid the "brokerage charges" that UPS charges. Otherwise, if in the US, there are several places to get a 4" system. Also, your glows may need to be replaced. considering it is only in the morning that it is hard to start.

eBay username.
They ship Flo-Pro systems in Canada and Diamond Eye down south IIRC
WhiteK2500 05-04-2008, 12:06 AM They are on Ebay too AFAIK.
Edit: Red beat me to it :D
Most Important exhaust upgrade? 3" mandrel bent downpipe... Why? The factory one sucks!
Give ya whistle, grunt, run cooler, better milage.... That good enough?
I replaced my crossover for a 2.25" one too, some people go that route, some keep the stock one... matter of oppinion really.
guybb3 05-04-2008, 10:34 AM Best air filter/air box IMO is the stock factory option K47 airbox that comes on the 97-2000 3500 trucks. I got one from a bone yard and I can't see how you could do any better.
ServiceOnSite 05-05-2008, 12:58 PM is there anyone who sells this air box???

Yep. You can find someone with a 97+ truck that is swapping it out for a custom made or aftermarket one, and get it off them, like how iamdave has laid claim to mine when I ditch it.
Check ebay and check the marketplace here, maybe someone's selling one?
Dealership?
Oh, forgot to add, check the junkyards, one man's junk is another's treasure.
ServiceOnSite 05-05-2008, 11:56 PM if i dont mind the noise, its not gonna hurt anything with just straight pipe on the exhaust is it???
not really having any luck finding the air box. gonna try callin a few more places. are there any other upgrades/mods that i shoud make to this truck??? i dont wanna get crazy its just a work truck but i just figure while im getting things for the truck i might as well that care of any

How much money you got? :D
If the injectors haven't been replaced in a while, or you just don't know, I'd personally change em out.
Change the glow plugs.
Relocate the FSD.
97+ intake, and exhaust.
You can also invest in the upgraded cooling system (97+) or just the 130GPH waterpump, with a 97+ fan clutch with a 21" dmax fan.
Also if you want to ditch the vac pump, you can look into a turbomaster (or make one)
That'll pretty much give you a great reliable work truck, with a few more ponies under your ass then a stock 6.5, with ton's of room to improve if you so wish.
Torque454 05-06-2008, 04:27 AM Whats with the 97+ intake and exhaust manifolds? Are they better than the pre-97 ones? Ive never heard of that before....I thought they were all the same except the "S" upper intakes. And the exhaust I thought was all the same unless it was a van/hummer setup...
Manifolds are the same. The 97+ air box went to a round filter that works really well. Leo
