I've read the towing capacities for my 2500HD cc lb but I was wondering how much some of you guys were hauling...How big are your "fivers"? I'm looking at buying one.

:grd:

Thank You!

I weighted our Arctic Fox just after we got it. It was almost empty and weighted 11,500 lbs . My 2003 Chevy 2500 pulles it like a dream. We did over 10,000 miles in the last year. Been from Florida to Michigan. The wife on last trip bust have added 1,000 more to the weight due to shopping:cool:

No problems...its fun to race unsuspecting people from stoplights....

Great post.........just got back from an RV show, found a 5th wheel we really liked. So just how much can we pull using the 2500hd? The 5th wheel we liked weighed 14,300lb. Don't have any idea what the hitch weight was. It was 34.5 ft. Suppose you have to have a dually for this..........Rick

36 foot dry weight 15600.....I'm over the GCWR. It's a CC SRW. Power to pull not a problem. On brakes, wish I could chip the brakes as I have on the DMax. I have not had an issue, but it does take a bit to stop. The trailer inparticular could use more braking ability, the truck is at it's max. I did put air bags on, and think that helped handling the weight. This setup tows just fine. I do not feel insecure towing with this setup.

This is just my opinion, but I would find the advertising book for your truck and find the section with the towing capacities. Look up your truck, and you will know exactly what the recommended limits are; the rest is up to you, but I would make some inquiries before I towed too heavy. The truck will certainly pull more than what's listed, but there are other considerations. I'm not a lawyer, nor do I sell insurance, so I don't know all of the ramifications, but I don't think I would want to be in an accident exceeding my towing capacity. From personal experience I do know that you can be escorted to a weigh station by a law enforcement type, weighed, and you can be fined, at least in Wisconsin.

36' 5er, 15,300 lbs. No problems at all, pulls great. I recommend air bags and never go over 265 series tires. Go for it, I'm glad I didn't get the bubble but 3500.

Check my Sig, All of the Trailers listed put me between 23k and 27 GCVR, I have been scaled with the GN and had no problems. I did upgrade to a Dually this year due to the pin weight of the toy hauler, 3100# . I have over 7k on the toy hauler and close to 20k on the GN. No problems but you do need to know what is going on around you as stops are LOOONG, but controlable. This would be one time where drive it like you stole it is not a good idea.

12K# FW pulls great generally. However, it does slow down some on long, steep grades but hoping Pred @ 40HP and soon to have 4" exhaust will help that.
I just love the way the Allisons' breaking works on the down side of those mountains!

I pull about 9000k. Last year did the dakotas and wyoming on one trip, then one to fla and the last to talladega. No problems, except for those darn mosquitos in SD!

Just make sure your tire rating will carry what you're pulling and roll on!

titanium 28/33 fifth wheel, combined weight of 19000lbs pulls great on my 2500, did find that the wider tires definatly gives more support, (not as top heavy) as compared to the stock skinny tires, with a nice 100hp tune, tranny never shifts, and seen a high of 16mpg cdn:D http://pic3.picturetrail.com/VOL22/566829/847939/73872862.jpg

The 2500HD is rated from a low of 13,400 lbs (4WD / crewcab) to a high of 16,000 lbs (2WD / regular cab). All have a GCWR2 of 22,000 lbs. Subtract the weight of your truck loaded up with your normal gear from 22,000, and this would be a good ballpark # for max weight for the 5'er.

I've had a "dirty" 17k+ load behind mine. No real problems till 45 mph when the wind load took over. This was before the pulse type boxes were released so I did not really have that much power (TQ) on tap.

We pull 2 different gooseneck trailers( see sig ), both pull like a dream. I belive the weight is not noticed as much as a strong head wind. I feel the 5th wheel/ goosneck trailer pulling is the safest combo out there. We like the dually for added stability and insurance incase of rear tire blowout.

I pull a 10k 5er, sometimes pull a boat behind the 5er as well for a trip to the lake. Running about 21,000 GCVWR when double trailered. Pulls like a dream with a little juice.

I have a 04 holiday rambler presidential 12000lb dry weight 14400 loaded pulled over 10000 miles no problems yet did install a pac brake to help with stopping and some air lift load controller air bags to help with the weight. I would highly recommend the prodigy brake controller it seems to help with stopping a heavy trailer better than any other brake controller I have had to date. The problem isnt pulling a heavy trailer the greatest problem Ive found is stopping. 2002 2500hd cc long box

Our Cedar Creek is listed as 9900 empty, with a gross of 12,500. My truck is happiest when pulling the CC. Other trucks are envious of the beautiful combination!! :D Can't wait for SPRING!

The heaviest has been a 35' steel horse trailer with 14 horses no duels either. About 24000 pds. Need 150 yards to stop the heavy thing and load E tires is a must. It was good I didn't go to far. Usually pull a 24 foot goose with 7 horses this is around 16000 to 17000 depending on how big the horses I put in. Have pulled this about 30000 miles with this setup.
