I have 2004 LLY that came with a factory CD Player that I replaced with an aftermarket stereo. I just bought a 2004 1/2 ton for one of my employees that came with a AM/FM only.
I thought I could take the stero from my truck and put it in his. But the plugs are different. Does anyone know if there is an adapter between the two.
Seems strange that two trucks from the same Manufactuer, same year, same body style would have different stereo plugs.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have bose or something on the truck the cd player came out of? Otherwise I think they would be the same.

Does one truck have steering wheel controls, on-star, rear passenger controls, or
XM radio? These will change the factory plug. You can always get an aftermarket pigtail and wire it yourself....

If the new truck is a base model or work truck, than that is the problem. I believe the base model radio is NOT interchangeable, while the other radios all are interchangeable and use the same plugs (with programming from the dealer). I'd be surprised if there is not an adapter available on the internet, however.

Why are the base model or work trucks different?? This may pose a problem because I am in the process of possibly putting a factory cd player in my truck that is not out of a work truck, though mine is the base model.

GM will do that kind of thing. Idiots.
I would imagine that since the radio is such an integral part of the electronics now, and the work/base trucks aren't offered with "fancy" options, that the wiring would be different.
Anyone of you have pics of the wiring (specifically the plugs) in the worktruck, and the back of the prospective radio?
