: Stealth +70 - Low Soot??
hookdOnDmax 05-02-2008, 06:24 AM I've tried flashing my ECM with both Edge Evolution and Stealth. My experience has been the EdgeEvo on 60hp loads up the DPF much more quickly than the Stealth +70. (Fortunately, the Evo is happy to report soot levels on himself or the Stealth~!!) :D
But the main reason for this thread .... for some reason it seems the guys at Quadzilla have a pretty low-soot tune in that +70. Seems to me that Stealth+70 (driven sanely) is even cleaner than the basic factory tune. 'Course, every time I accelerate around a Prius to get onto the freeway, I defeat this benefit. :(
But the +70 has taken me well-over a tankful before needing a REGEN. Further, it seems able to back-down on the accumulated soot grams. Jumping onto the freeway I might see grams jump from 11 to 13, but another 10-15 miles of easy driving, I've seen soot levels DROP (maybe back to 10 grams) without going into REGEN.
Is this the "passive regeneration" described in GM's whitepaper?
Just looking for other Stealth users who can monitor & report???
pa32rt 05-02-2008, 12:52 PM I ran the +50 most of the time with the DPF. Anything more just plugs it quickly.
Now that it is not on the truck, I run the +90 most of the time with WAAAYYY better mileage. +50 or +70 for towing.
D/AChris 05-03-2008, 07:53 PM So PA, your getting best MPG with the 90 tune without your DPF? I tried the 70 first, got 15.5mpg (hand calc) up from 13.8mpg stock. Trying the 50 now, maybe I'll just go up the 90 before getting numbers for the 50!:D I don't drive my truck hard, mileage is too important for me. I'm just a little worried about the 90 tune on the stock Ally.
Hookd, if I had heard your post before getting the DPF lost, I might have kept it, but I must admit, I love the truck without the DPF. Chris

I think mine's gonna fall off too, maybe sooner than later, now at 7,500 miles.
I've been waiting to accumulate 10,000 miles ... mainly waiting to see if I need the Stealer to fix any leaks or strange engine noises. None of these issues so far. Meanwhile, it has been VERY interesting to observe "DPF processing" through Edge's monitor.
Also curious to see how some new changes impact economy before 'straight pipes.' I just today added a SnugTop shell, which might improve mileage a bit. Next week adding 100% Amsoil synthetics ... engine, Allison, transfer case & both differentials, and curious if that's gonna impact fuel mileage. Planning an I-5 blast next weekend, taking my little 5 y/o neice to Disneyland, a great mileage test and even better weekend~!
I have the MBRP turbo-back waiting in the garage, to complete the upgrades picture.
Prolly just a matter of a month or two. ):h

You will be so happy. I wish I could leave the DPF in and have the truck run this nice. I don't necessarily like running without it - as I am all for properly operating emissions stuff - but this model DPF is just a huge fuel/power hog.

So far.

IMO, THE TRANNY IS AT IT'S LIMIT WITH THE 70+ TUNE. I WANT TO TRY THE 90+ TO SEE IF THE MILEAGE INCREASES BUT MIGHT WAIT TIL I GET A TRANSGO JR. TO BE SAFE. AS LONG AS YOU "BABIED" IT, IT WOULD PROBABLY BE FINE, I DON'T HAVE THAT SELF CONTOL:D
