Anyone with any experience converting a gas truck to a 6.2L? I have a 1990-1991 Chevy Dually with a THRISTY 454. I want to swap in a 6.2L. If I have a complete running donor truck with a 6.2L, how much more difficult would this be than a normal engine swap? I thought it would be a good candidate because it already has 2 switched tanks from the factory. Thoughts?

That is an easy one, did the same swap 8 years ago. Use the D/conv.,governor, tv cable,& rad. and keep wiring on the D/eng. and wire into power supply a/c, alt. sw the hyd brake booster, you can use the dash & glow plug light from the donor. Drain all gas out good, disconnect the electric fuel pump, the diesel fuel pump will pull thru them OK. The a/c shops already have the hoses made up for this application.

Should be easy, I just put a 6.2 into a Toyota so I had to do motor mounts, wiring etc. Still a pretty easy swap just because the 6.2 is such a simple engine. If you are used to the 454 you might want to go with a turbo.

Yeah, I knew that the 6.2L was a factory option in this truck, but I just wanted to ask around a bit to make sure I wasnt attempting a huge task that was going to be overly complicated. I have a buddy here at work who is "GM to the bone" that should be a huge aid with this. But everything I've read so far said to locate a complete running donor truck to make it alot easier. I like that Toyota idea too. Pretty cool. I'm not worried about the turbo. Everybody at work says I drive like their grandma, so I'm in no hurry on the road. Thanks Guys.

Forgot to say to flush the gas out the line from both tanks with d/fuel
