I bought the adapter to plug in my Tekonsha brake controller, even though it was labeled for a Chevy 1500. After connecting all the wires and plugging it in under the dash, the trailer brakes did not work. Can someone show me a diagram of which 4 of the 6 plugs are used on the brake controller adapter for the truck in my sig? I had this controller in my Dodge and it worked great, so I don't think that is the problem.
There are 4 wires: red, white, blue, black. I used a multimeter to determine which of the 6 plugs (on the truck) had 12 volts, and which is the ground. I then moved all the wires around to where I though they should be, and the brakes still do not work. Now I'm lost. Thanks.

Follow the link in post #4 here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=241430.

BTW, that post was only 4 posts down from this one when I searched:cool:.

All full size GM trucks use the same plug, but '02 and older have two of the wires transposed compared to an '03 or newer.

"brake controller plug", but go to advanced search and put those keywords in the top left and in the bottom right ask to search the "electrical forum". Your thread comes up first.

white ground
red is input from brake(switched side not constant)
blue is output to plug in back of vehicle
black is main power input, some vehicles even if you have the harness you have to insert fuses into empty slots in the fuse box usually under the hood
