Didn't notice a hp gain, nor any louder sound, BUT...having better airflow is a Good thang..;)

Check the vendors section, and go to Kennedy's Diesel site, click tech tips, then on duramax..has pic's and instructions..:D

It might, I didn't dyno, so just guessing. I didn't feel any difference in my butt dyno, if that tells ya anything..:D Still, having better airflow is worth the 10 mins or so that the mod takes to do..;)

just did mine last week. has a little better throttle responce. no hp gains . i am doing on thing at a time , then running a tank of fuel to see if it improves mpg. last tank before the mod 16.43 by hand. now i am useing my gps to check.

mod dose not take a lot of time about 1 1/2 hours. i used a dremmil tool and it dose not cost nothing only your time.

next the stock muffler is coming off straight pipe see what that dose

you can cut a hole in the bottom of your airbox, hook up some dryer duct from the bottom of the box and run in to where your tow hooks are. then take and use some form of screen from a door or wire wesh just to block large objects from coming up in. works as a form of ram air and you can still keep your stock air filter.

How many holes do i put in it? Dont i need like a UNi-foam filter or something?

I have a 2 questions before i FINALLY do it...i kno it doesnt take that long and it lets more air in and that supposed to help but is it even worth it?Winter is coming up and it gets pretty cold some days like 5-10 degrees...will that hurt anything if i do the mod?

I run mine this way year round with the Uni foam filter. Regardless what any lab tests say, I find the Uni to perform exceptionally well in the real world. This is one of those mods that does not gain measureable power, it just helps in the grand scheme of things. The forward facing triangle allows you to tend towards fresh outside air moreso than hot underhood air.

thanks Kennedy!....i plan on doing this soon and i was just wondering if this would hurt anything in the winter....so i cut on the left side of the box and the front if u were looking at it from the front?

I did the PPE air box mod for my lbz and yes the turbo is louder which is friggin awesome and i think i got mabie 1mpg better.
But yes it did help in my case.
I noticed a quite a big difference in my turbo noise and it spooles up quicker.

oh i forgot to mention that!...my turbo is louder with it being cut out....idk if its because it letting more air im making is spool faster but wow is it louder!
