smote 02-16-2005, 01:09 PM what is supplier discount?
Is it more or less than the "in the driveway discount"
k2rider 02-16-2005, 01:19 PM Well, I'm 0 for 2 with dealers on the discount so far. 1 of them said no and the other said yes, but not on diesels.
Dmax Tim 02-18-2005, 08:31 AM what is supplier discount?

'In the driveway' u need to get a GID### from a GM employee

so your saying that you can share these GID#s with anybody? how does that work? do they still work if I am trading in my old truck? I am about to order a dmax and now I am confused? I all ready have a deal, will it still work?

Ask your dealer if he will give a better deal w/ the GID#.
PM myself or Howard and we'll set u up.
Dmax Tim 03-21-2005, 12:58 PM Wanted to let everyone know we'll be on vacation from the 25-april 3.
so if u need a GID # let me know by Thursday morning.
s2kskibum 04-08-2005, 04:35 PM Sent Tim and Howard PM's - cert please!
Thanks - Kent (can't type - excited!)
cwest 04-08-2005, 08:56 PM Thanks Howard !!!! We ordered our truck today. The GID # works great. No hassels with sale@#@ Best way to go.
s2kskibum 04-08-2005, 11:21 PM Three cheers for Howard! Got my new truck today, and while negotiating (what a pain), asked what a GID# would do. Well the price came down, and we went ahead with the purchase. Then I pm'd Howard from the dealership, he called my cell, and 10 minutes later, I had my GID#!
Got to say, in this sometimes rude, unfeeling world, having another person I have never met make an effort like Howard did gave me a warm feeling. I thank him for making the extra effort to make me a member of the duramax family!
BTW, loved the drive home!
Thank you Howard, I'll email you a message soon!
Kent
Edit - PS - Tim also contacted me to help get a certificate, and I wanted to express my gratitude to him as well for making sure I got the best deal possible.
Elowe65 04-09-2005, 01:23 AM Question, I am offered at my place of employment GM supplier discount. Are you offering something better or the same thing for others that may not have this available to them.
Thanks,
howard_m18 04-10-2005, 01:14 AM ELOWE 65, that is correct. A lot of these guys can't & don't get a good discount because the dealers like selling at the highest price possible!! Thus G.M.S.D. price. They also get to see what I can buy the "BABY" for!
Elowe65 04-10-2005, 05:04 AM If I'm not mistaken, the GM supplier discount puts the price about $1000 above your price, is that correct? On the invoice, theres GMS which I believe is your price and then theres SUPPLR which is our price, is that correct? Just trying to verify what I've been told. Have used the supplier discount on the last 3 vehicles I've purchased.
howard_m18 04-10-2005, 01:11 PM ELOWE 65, that is correct. The only way to get a truck cheaper is to buy a Company vehicle. We call them PREP. cars. They are also called mileage cars. They are the ones that are driven by G.M. Salaried employees. They are usually driven 2-4,500 miles & then turned in. Howard

Is this supplier discount work in Canada.
Rick
howard_m18 04-11-2005, 01:29 AM HI BODYMAN & FIRST THINGS FIRST! Welcome to our site & may you get all your questions answered quickly & correctly! Ask a dealer if they will accept a G.M.Suppier Discount Authorization #. I really can't tell you if G.M. has the plan set up for this Discount. I do know that G.M. wouldn't honor our other program callled the G.M. Ambassador Program in Canada. BUT going out on a limb, I would say that they do because we have suppliers all over the world & I'm sure that they get some kind of a discount. Howard
Dmax Tim 04-12-2005, 09:27 AM Well I called GM Vehicle Purchase Program 1-800-235-4646.
Our GID# does NOT work in Canada.
sorry for the bad news.
How u doing Howard?
howard_m18 04-14-2005, 01:33 AM HI TIM & doing great at this end! Just sent in my request for money back from Uncle Sam!! Busy filling out requests for G.M.S.D.#'S. Howard
dudeonit 04-29-2005, 11:18 PM :) WOW!!! What can I say but "Thanks so much Howard". I saved about $3K with about 10 minutes of phone conversation with a man with a big heart. If you ever out the California way and need something, you have my #.
Thanks again, Bob Davis
howard_m18 04-30-2005, 09:17 AM Bob, just send me 1/2 of the money saved & I'll be happy also!! Just kidding!! IT IS MY PLEASURE TO BE ABLE TO HELP EACH OF YOU!!:cool2: Howard
KINGSMT 04-30-2005, 12:58 PM Hi Howard; I spoke to my sales manager at 12:30 today and he has not received the truck as of yet. He assured me that the as soon as it is on his lot he will call, mainly because they have been invoiced for the truck and he does not want to pay "floor plan" he said, since I am paying cash his eyes are wide open because they don't have a bank commitment on this unit. He thinks that maybe the carrier still has the truck. The vin# is 1GBE5C1245F529324 this is the 5500 C&C I spoke to you a few times about. Thank You for all the help You and Your group have been on this unit and I will keep you updated as per when it is here. Thanx, Dan
Duramaxcam 04-30-2005, 02:43 PM Does the GMS price include the incentives (rebates).
howard_m18 05-01-2005, 01:35 AM Duramaxcam, NO the G.M.S DOES NOT include the rebates. Rebates are subtracted from the GMS. price. All that much better!! :grd:
Zip from Tenn 05-02-2005, 07:20 PM DmaxTim, are you sure you get 6 authorization #'s per month? Unless the program has changed recently, it should be 6 per calendar year.:)
Don (GM Spring Hill employee)
howard_m18 05-02-2005, 11:56 PM HI ZIP from Tenn * great to see another "Shop Rat" on the site!! Each employee gets 2 # per month for the G.M. Supplier Discount Pricing Authorization Program. BUT each of us has friends who will use their 2#s to make it 4,6,or 8 per month. I use 6 per month & probaly could get more. The 6#s per year is for the PREP CARS that we can buy. They are the lowest way to buy a G.M. vehicle there is!! I have bought many cars using that program!! Howard (Pontiac East Asmy. retiree)
johnk 05-03-2005, 01:54 PM Hello All,
I'm new to this group (about a month) and am just about ready to buy a GMC 2500 w/ Dur/Ally. My company offers the gm supplier discount which I have used to get pricing that I thought was great. After reading this thread, however, it looks like there's an even better discount. Howard, am I to understand that your discount is better than the gm supplier discount? (All of my prices are discounted about 15% off of MSRP). If so, can I use one of your 6 monthly passes? Thanks for your reply.
JohnK (soon to be D/A owner)
Zip from Tenn 05-03-2005, 09:43 PM Oh, I reread Tim's post and he meant the Supplier program. I was thunkin he meant the GMS program. Sorry Tim.
PFlorenzano 05-16-2005, 12:43 PM Hello everyone,
I plan on purchasing/special order an 06 GMC 2500HD Extended Cab with the Power Package. My plans were to go through Amway/Extended Program where you can purchase any domestic vehicle for $50.00 over invoice.
Will this 'supplier discount' com close to the $50.00 over invoice or will it beat it? If so, can I obtain one of these numbers?
Thanks again,
Pete

Get the dealer to show u the invoice and on the right side it will have GM supplier price, that is what u pay w/ one of our GID#.
Compare and let us know if u need one to get a better deal.
PFlorenzano 05-17-2005, 12:14 PM Hi DMax Tim.
Thank you for the information. Now I'm assuming dealers will be reluctant to show you the invoice price vs supplier discount, is this true? I know that the dealer has holdback fees of like 2% of the invoice price so they are still making money off of you.
Thanks again,
Pete :)
howard_m18 05-17-2005, 11:15 PM PFLORENZANO, I see that you are looking at a 2006? No invoices on them as of yet. Won't start building them until after the 4Th of July shut-down. Some "PILOTS" will be built, BUT them come down the asmy. line with no Sticker until we get the ok form downtown. The G.M.S.D. Authorization Number is good till 11/15 as of right now. Howard = howard_m18@yahoo.com
PFlorenzano 05-18-2005, 12:39 PM Hi Howard,
Thank you for the information that your provided me with. The reason that I'm looking at an 06 model is because I will be purchasing around this time next year. I'm waiting for my buddy to purchase my classic car. Once I receive the money from that, I would use that as a down payment on the truck. At that point (if it's not to much trouble for you), would request the GID# from you to compare the price of the truck vs Amway's Everyday Advantage Program, to see which is cheaper.
On another note, how do you like your truck? I know that I test drove one last year and I can't stop thinking about it!!
Thank again,
Pete :)
Dmax Tim 05-20-2005, 09:11 AM Go here and u can build your truck or one that u have a price for and compare them.

PFlorenzano 05-20-2005, 01:30 PM Hi Tim,
Thanks again for the information, I noticed this site doesn't show invoice prices, just MSRP.
I know that Kelly's Blue Book http://www.kbb.com (http://www.kbb.com/) gives you the break down of Invoice vs MSRP.
Thank you,

If u didn't get one PM me and I'll get one for u.
PFlorenzano 05-24-2005, 02:28 PM Hi Tim,
I finally figured out how the site works (all I had to do is read the directions that Howard provided me with).
Like I explained to Howard in an email, I would like to thank the both of you for helping myself and the others with your information in regards to the supplier discount.
March of next year, I will be ordering my 06 GMC Sierra with the power package and was wondering if either you or Howard would be kind to give me one of your GID codes (when the time comes). I already verified with my dealer that they would gladly take the GID code.
Thank you,
Pete

mapledge 05-25-2005, 12:09 PM I guess it's time to bite the bullet and order up a new truck. I started researching and tormenting dealers back in March but there is nothing like being told that "we need to act fast " to make me drag my feet.
I have been told that what I want (k3500 ex-cab c&c duramax zf 6) will need to be ordered straight from the factory. If anyone knows of one out there I'd like to hear about it. Otherwise I think have missed the 05 deadline so I'm waiting for an 06.
I have also been trying to get into the GM family first web site to see what it might be able to do for me, but can't get it to register me-"not in system".
Any help comments or suggestions are welcome. Even I am getting tired of procrastinating , so let's git er done.
Thanks , Pete

Hi Pete
I did the same thing. Please read the first post from Howard:

Pete
mapledge 05-26-2005, 10:58 AM Thank You for the reply. I've yet to be able to access the site. GM family first won't let me register and the cited link just comes up blank . Do I need a web cam to show my honest face? That could really backfire.
PFlorenzano 05-26-2005, 12:47 PM Hi Pete,
You don't need to register to see the difference between supplier discount and MSRP. Once your able to get to the GM Family First URL, you can follow the steps that Howard provided us with and you will be on your way.
Good luck!,
Pete
mapledge 05-26-2005, 02:13 PM I did get in. Looks interesting but excludes bare chassis models and I've proven myself not enough of a gentleman to care for a pick up box.
Local dealer readily offered to build one to my specs for invoice +$500 - whatever incentives are in effect at the time of delivery. The lead time required makes the incentives unpredictable , which I do find annoying. Is this the way I should expect the deal to go?
Your comments are welcome Thank You, Pete
Zip from Tenn 05-26-2005, 11:55 PM Mapledge, did you try to build one on the GMC site? There is an option for a pickup bed delete and it reduces the price by $705.
mapledge 05-27-2005, 07:51 AM Zip, Thanks for the suggestion. I'm after the narrow dually axle which I've been told is only available on the chassis/cab
Thanks, Pete
Dmax Tim 05-27-2005, 04:24 PM Local dealer readily offered to build one to my specs for invoice +$500 - whatever incentives are in effect at the time of delivery. The lead time required makes the incentives unpredictable , which I do find annoying. Is this the way I should expect the deal to go?

If they add $500 then the GM supplier price will be lower.
Let me or Howard know and we can get u a GID#.
mapledge 05-27-2005, 08:31 PM Tim, thank you for the offer of a GID#. I'm still working out just what that means but am making progress.
I haven't had time to totally figure out the GMFamilyfirst site. In elegability chassis/cabs are excluded from PEP,whatever that is, but OK for GMS (supplier?). I haven't found out how to configure a chassis/cab in the build section
Am I correct that it's to late to order an 05 and to early for an 06? I don't want to tie up a # and just blow smoke with the salesman if we're just going to have to wait a month or so for the stars to come into alignment.
Thank You, Pete
Zip from Tenn 05-28-2005, 04:28 PM The PEP program is for employees. They can order a vehicle and have an 8th level manager drive it around for a while, a few thousand miles, then pick up the vehicle at a better price than GMS.
The GMS price is the best we employees can get for ourselves or family without an 8th level drivng it first.
The GMID, or GID, price is the price we can get for you,( friends and aquaintenances). Same as supplier price. It means "GM in the Driveway."
Your dealer might be able to find a chassis model on a lot somewhere and trade one of his vehicles for it, and still give you the GMID price if he wants your business.
All you need is the authorization #.
mapledge 05-30-2005, 10:26 AM I think I'm starting to figure it out after rereading the posts here multiple times. Is the invoice price on the quote sheet the salesman generated what I can expect to pay with a GID#? I've been unable to find how to build a chassis/cab on an official GM web site although Yahoo Autos will spec one out with an invoice price.
I also haven't tried a search with a GMC dealer recently.May have to go back to one of them
It may be time to darken the salesmans cubicle entrance again. I"ll let you all know how that goes and hopefully get that number.
Thanks again for all the help. Pete
NUDIESEL 05-30-2005, 10:47 AM Yes the Supplier Discount works in Canada just used it for my upcoming purchase at the end of June. Took the price down by about 10% off of list. Got me into my dream truck.
Zip from Tenn 05-30-2005, 07:03 PM And another yes to your question about the dealer invoice quote. If you tell the sales person you have an authorization #, they are required to show you the discounted price for the program you're using. Did you see the latest post- about GM's effoort to move vehicles by giving all customers the GM employees discount? Good stuff!
mapledge 05-30-2005, 07:22 PM I am getting excited... so when can we start talking 06's?
howard_m18 06-04-2005, 01:41 AM Mapledge, the dealers are now taking orders for the 2006,BUT the best you will do with a 2006 would be using the GMSDPricing # as mentioned already. They expire in November right now & it looks as though the new trans. won't be available till the first of the year? 2006 trucks won't be built until after the change -over 7/1 for 2 weeks. They surprised me last year as they start building before the shut down,BUT the trucks aren't allowed off the property until they get the ok from downtown Detroit. You will lose from $1,200 - $1,500 by waiting for the new ones & I will also state that as this program moves along, it will get harder to find a 2005 truck that you will be able to buy before the GMS expires. Just my $.02, Howard
mapledge 06-04-2005, 08:01 PM I've pretty much given up on finding the '05 truck I want through the local dealers but they admitt their searches have limits. Is there a way to search for a truck from the top down? I think I'll pick up a Truck Trader magazine and just start calling promising looking dealers. I just don't know how many salesmen I can stomach having the same conversation with. Good practice for purgatory I guess.
