I know everybody says you don't need to stack with a tts but I tow and was wondering if they go together so I can use the juice for towing and tts for playing.

In the lower tunes, the TTS stacks well (80,120). Don't stack it on the Extreme though. The TTS is ever thing the lower stacks can be and better. You don't need stacks if you have the big TTS 3 stage tune (80,120,Extreme). It runs much cooler for towing in the lower tunes than just the hot juice any way. Go into the light.

Another question I should have posted is the tts xtreme able to be switched to different tunes on the go.

TTS sends the switch with the ECM.

I have the TTS Xtreme. It includes a toggle switch that allows you to switch between 3 programs. These include: Tow, Race, and Xtreme.

I originally ran my Attitude set on zero along with the TTS just so I would have the benefit of the Attitude's gauge functions. I recommend against this as some timing rattle was audible. This would not be good in a towing situation.

Perhaps they now have Attitudes that do not add timing when set to zero.

I just keep thinking about more questions. Are you able to turn it off if you want to in the case that somebody is else driving it?

Only to the smallest Tune, which would be the 80 HP tune if you go for the 80/120/Xtreme.

If not I think a 30/80/120 is offered as well.

Everyone who is hot-rodding these trucks should have a stock ECM and one to "play" with. It makes life simplier.

How much for another ECM? Which programmers or moduals do not allow you to go back to stock?

McRat

$400 for a backup ECM. Any custom tune will not allow you to return to stock, TTS is a custom tune and there are others. And if you run into trouble with any ECM uploader, your truck may not start. It is not common, but it does happen.

If your truck is your sole transportation, and you are playing with ECM tuners, it is wise to carry to a spare. It take 5 minutes or less (me? 1 minute) to swap ECM's and does not require tools.

$400 is not too hard to swallow. What do you mean by custom tune? I thought most of the moduals you could unplug and go back to stock and most of the programmers re-flash back to stock? What about the tuners and moduals that have the different switchable levels, can they go back to stock?

If your Hot Rodding and going back to the dealer for warranty service I think having a second PCM is a smart thing to do. If I got into a argument with the dealer I certainly wouldn't want them pulling up a stored history of bonzai torque values, speed, overboost etc. Who really knows what can and can't be done/stored in the PCM? So the whole "pricey thing" comes down to how much you want to "pay" to "play". PCMs are cheap compared to dealer service work.

Where do you get a backup ecm for $400?

You can purchase one from TTS.
Some have purchased from a wrecking yard.
Others have purchased from Ebay.

the bullydog, predator, hypertech & quadzilla tuners allow you to go back to stock

If they don't lock up the ECM accidently.

It is wise to have a backup if you are uploading using anything. I missed a race in our vette when I locked up the ECM while programming.

How about Edge??

McRat
02-13-2005, 10:08 PM
No worries with the Edge, as it is a Harness Box. It does not involve rewriting the engine computer.

Highmark

I would assume any that has a harness box would be this way? I wonder if gmpartsdirect.com would have these?

You will need a Tech II to "marry" the ECM to your vehicle. Any dealer or tech with one can do it.

A Edge box just plugs in to your exsisting bale style harness(s) in the engine compartment no extra harness needed.

Take a look in the 911 forum about flash tuners killing peoples rides. Seems to be a very small % but still. Plus the TTS stuff is switchable on the fly. There is the powerloader and a new one in the works to flash you stock brain though.

Better have a built trans to run the Extreme

I run my 80 hp tune plowing snow. Its very controllable. Its EGT safe. Its extremely smooth. Its a very nice lower tune. I'm not in need of my juice anymore......TTS does everything I need and want. Er......every thing I need and want in a tune;) Better clarify
