I installed my valve last night and was wondering if anyones valve ever accidently came open? Has ayone made a plug to put over the end incase it flips open somehow? Am I being too anal?? lol

I have used Fumotos on various vehicles for the last 10 years and have never had one "accidentally" open. These devices seem to excite the imagination. Somebody a while ago thought that having a Fumoto would make one vulnerable to vandals crawling under the truck and opening the valve.

They make a saftey clip that you put on the valve.

My valve has a spring-loaded locking tab on the lever as yours should. I've had mine on for 6 years and over 100,000 miles and it has never opened, been opened, been vandalized, hit by debris or suffered a para-psychological spirit kinesthetic anomoly in all that time.

You are being paranoid.

Put a hose clamp around the body, holding the handle in the locked position.

You can also find a rubber type cap to slip over the nipple, (friction fit), to keep debris out of the nipple and off of the ball.

Yup, you're paranoid.

Here's a link for the ss hose clip from Lubrication Specialist to ease your mind.

Never had any problems with it in the past few years. Never leaks, never came open.

I keep a cap over it since I take an oil sample when draining. This keeps crud out that could show up in the analysis.

i bought mine from schied diesel at the 4x4 jamboree in lima a couple weeks ago. they gave me that spring clamp clip. i'm not worried about it as my skid plate will cover most of it.

You want the F-106N, which has the nipple.

Don't know about cheap, but Kennedy, (a Supporting Vender), has them.

well i had one come open this winter! wife had my truck for a week and when i went back to get it there was oil all over the drive way..( she hadn't noticed ) moved it to the locked position and no more problem.. i can not figure out how it got open unless i did not latch it when i changed oil in the fall..

i think they are pretty much fool proof. have them on our work trucks also..

I use the clip described in the previous post along w/ a cap.

A hose clamp works well to keep handle in locked position, and a 3/8" rubber cap over nipple to keep crap out of valve.

I always put a new cable tie on mine after an oil change. Valve can't open without cutting the cable tie off.
