I would like to purchase a small tractor (not hydrostatic) under 5000.00 dollars. Hopefully located in the triad area or close by. I want a Kubota, New Holland, etc. diesel 4wd with front end loader so that I can find locals to work on it if something needs servicing on it. Mainly for bushhogging.

You are asking for a lot for under 5. My Super M with loader was 4500. That is gas 2WD. Once you get into diesel and 4 WD, you will be over 5. Unless it is in pretty rough shape.

someone north of me sells the grey market stuff and I don't know if I'd buy one of them. even they are more than 5k w/o loader for 25hp or so.

When looking into the grey market stuff, just be prepared for parts suppliers telling you they cannot get parts for them. There are a few suppliers out there, but what they have and what they can get is two differant things.

Look @ all the major Brands they all have somthing in the Compact tractor range but they are gonna cost you twice what you want to pay. Check out lease deals they also have Good Financing if you choose that route. Going the used route you might pay more if its a loader and usually they are beat to death just check out http://www.tractorhouse.com to get a good idea of whats out there for the $$
