Real quick fellas. Been searching around for who sells a metal fuel filter bleed screw. I have heard of them out here before. My truck is sucking air and I suspect the cheap ass under-engineered plastic bleed screw may be the problem.

Thanks

Dane

These trucks should've come with the stainless bleeder screw from the start. I got mine from Lubrication Specialist too. :)

They definitely should have.

Has anyone used that bleeder valve kit? I think the little priming pump on mine is fubar... if I pump it, it doesn't ever get firm and kinda feels like the internal plunger might be stuck? :damnit1::banghead: Wonder if that kit and a hand vac pump would be sufficient to prime the fuel filter etc.

For oil sampling you can use a Fumoto Valve too they work great and allow you to keep the engine running while drawing a sample. I am going to order me a SS bleed screw also.

Does anybody know the dimensions on these bleed screws? There size and length etc. I want to see if I can get some and start carring them on my website too.

I just used a bolt from the depot. Works perfectly and won't break like the cheap plastic stock one.

Did you buy the SS Bleeder from Greg at Lube Specialists? He'd probably have spares, or maybe the measurements.
Not sure if the SS bleeder O-ring is the same as what's on the OEM plastic bleeder. The OEM might be metric.
If buying and you have the option, Viton would be a better choice than Buna N for ULSD, but the Buna N is OK.

10mm X 1.5

Dan,
i ordered a Stewert Warner 10x1.5 adapter for the fuel filter so i could mount a pressure sensor on the bleeder screw, well i cant get it to fit, the thread pitch looks to be off,
ARE you sure its a 10x1.5???

does any one know what size that plug is exactly???

modified

I measured a plug. 0.378" OD X 0.323" long. (don't have a metric caliper)
The Racor package says 10mm. The top of the hex says M10.
The thread is 1.5
This fitting has straight threads, (not tappered).

I'll stick with info above, 10mm O.D. X 1.5 X 8mm long.

I'd check your new fitting, maybe it's wrong.

I was at the home depot last night and walked past the bolt center, they have this nice guide of bolts samples to test on. well i looked at the 10 mm bolts and the 1.5 is way different then the stewert warner fitting they shipped me. I didnt have it along, but it looked like a 10x1.0, Assholes!!! Delaying my Fuel pressure gauge project!!!!!

i got mine from lubrication specialists. best freakin 10 bucks ive ever spent!! my shit plastic GM screw broke and left me stranded in a sub zero blizzard back in december and i had to get a ride then drive 30 miles to a friends house and borrow the screw out of his dmax so i could get mine home. i dont think ive ever been that pissed at a vehicle manufacturer before. i ordered 2, one for me and one for him and had them in 2 days, on christmas week no less. lubrication specialists rocks!

I do know that it is a 10mm x 1.5. Most fittings out there are 10mm x 1.0. The 1.5 are a little hard to find. I got mine from Discount Hydraulic Hose.
