I just got an '06 and am getting ready for a trip this weekend with my 5er. I hooked up the 5th wheel wiring package in the bed and didn't think to check for power to the charge wire for the trailer, although everything else is working. Is there a fuse or wire that has to be hooked up under the hood like on my old '02 or on the '08? The factory brake controller wiring was not in the truck and the previous owner had a brake controller with a non factory wiring harness hooked up. I just want to make sure all the fuses and wires are hooked up like they are supposed to be. Thanks
One more thing, is the brake controller harness the same from '05 to '06? I took the harness out of my '05 before I got rid of it and plugged it in t the '06 without thinking. I know that it didn't work between my '02 and '05 but I had re-wired it to work in my '05.

It should be the same...at least it was from my '04 to '07, I used the same harness and controller from my '04 when my '07 was delivered. If you do not have power to the "+" terminal in the 7-way, check the fuse box in the engine bay. Replace the red plug with the fuse that came wrapped in electrical tape to the new brake control harness. If you are standing next to the driver's side fender looking down on the fuse panel, at the top row, second from the far left fuse, there might be a red plug (under the bar code sticker). Replace the red plug with the fuse, and that should provide power to the 7-way plug. Good luck and safe travels.

I remember having a problem with my older Tahoe from year to year. The supplied GM cable did change pin locations from year to year. I had to swap a pair of pins to make it work in my new Tahoe. As far as the charging connection on the Silverado, you usually need to connect the red wire that is coiled up near the steering column to the fuse distribution center on the driver's side wheelwell. There are usually external threaded studs that you must connect the red wire to in order to charge the batteries on the 5er.

Well, I just went and checked the truck and the stud #1 has a 40amp fuse in it and there is a red wire connected to stud #1 that came in from outside of the box somewhere. I am assuming that it is the correct wire as it is the only one I see anywhere under the hood on that side. I guess I'll have to go and get my voltmeter out and check it after work just to make sure.
Thanks for the replies
