: LMM DPF bypass thought...

Just wanted to throw in a bone here. I had seen a post about bypassing the DPF while leaving it intact. Well here's the thought. Many years back when the Car manufactures started with the cat. converters on the gas engines for emmisions, we seen a loss in power and other things. Some of us took the converters and "punched" them out, while leaving then on the vehicle. I have one on my fathers truck and what a difference.

Not sure what the DPF is made out of (should do more homework I guess) but is there any thought to punching out a DPF some what to let exhuast travel freely in the DPF. Maybe drilling it out a little bit and installing a smaller straight pipe inside the DPF, while leaving the DPF on the truck? Understanding there is pressure sensors triggering the regen, but is there any possibilities to do this like the cat converters?? Also understanding it's tampering with the emmisions too, but for and inspection point that it all "looks" intact. Just looking for other thoughts about this or anyone experimenting with it...thanks. I'm sure that I have missed a tread or two here on DP.:o:, any links would be appreciated.

It could be done if your willing to take the time , what you do is cut the top section off the dpf , and get a chisel and hammer and hammer that crap out , it's basically a ceramic brick , and weld it back up at the top for when the run a mirror along the bottom they cant tell that it has been moddified

Still need tuning for it. Won't work, the ecm will see that a regen has not been done in xxx miles and will go into limp mode

Here in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) they will start smog checking light diesels in 2010, any mods will be detected and perpetrator's sentenced to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" movie 24/7 for one year in the environmental crimes detention camp! Be afraid, be very afraid; diesel particulates are considered a toxic waste and carcinogen in Kalifornia.

Would it work If you gutted it as suggested and put a quad on it with DPF delete on it for the mirror police. Then maybe added a DPF back MBRP?
