What Is The Max Egt A Dmax Should Sustain While Towing. I Wasa Towing 10000 Pounds And Temps With Temps Steadily Around 1100-1200 Degrees Is This Normal Seems A Little High To Me

IIRC 1325* is max continuous. others should chime in as well

the dmax is rated to withstand constant duty at 1375 (or it might be 1325 as kylant said? I cant remember exactly). Higher temps can be done in shorter intervals.

Basically, if the engine tune is stock, dont worry about EGT's. If you are towing with a tune, then its a good idea to watch EGT's and back off a bit if the hill is really long and the temps are creeping up on 1400*.

I agree with all. Loaded to around 10K pulling hills around 6K ft I could easily see 1400 on th Attitude briefly in the summer before I let off. I actually clicked it down to stock and didn't see any difference. Flat and level I would assume you were cruising at least 70mph or better??? Maybe a little headwind or high profile load bucking the wind???

My LLY's run 1425 degrees stock.

Mine would sustain at least this high stock. IIRC Blksmoke contacted Garrett who built the turbo and they told him they built the turbo to withstand 1500 continuous.

I just finished towing 14k from Dallas, TX to Danville, IN. With the stock tune in the truck, the highest I saw was 1250*. The truck stayed around 1000 to 1100 on a constant basis.

Yeah, but didn't you just crack a piston? ;)

Actually, you're doing better than me. I don't have gauges, so I have no idea what my EGTs are. :o:

Mine was running over 6000 on the edge so I disconnected the probe. Any ideas probe or edge box?

I'd guess probe. Call edge they will send you a new one for free. I just did this to mine. But mine was reading 130 degrees constantly, not 6000. But call its worth a free piece to try.

X2 for my LBZ.

True. I see 1400 -1450 pulling long grades. It worried me and I contacted some engineers from garrett and told them what I was seeing and they said it should be fine. They said, "don't let it get above 1600° for very long." I told them I try to stay under 1500° and they said "you should be fine". It's all in what you feel comfortable with. I believe it depends alot on where you pull as well as what you pull. Guys out East in more humid climates, constantly report lower EGT's than guys out West in more arid climates.

Good to know guys, I've been keeping mine under 1350* just to be safe.

same here with the 1350 on average.. 16,000 lb trailer loaded and a steep hill I have seen 1500 when I wasnt paying attention:eek: .. slight throttle is 1300 or so. no hills flat (per say) 1150 to 1200 average

1350 is about all you want to see. I know for a fact that you can exceed that stock when towing heavy, thus the need for guages in these trucks.

I have my Edge attitude back down at 1390. Hopefully with my new turbo this will be a non issue in the future. :D
