My LBZ has started dying about 4 or 5 seconds after startup. It only does it on its first startup in the mornings, or after sitting for several hours. It is kinda hard to get started back, have to hit the starter 3 or 4 times with the throttle against the floor and it starts up like it is starving for fuel, but after it is started up, it runs smooth and has all the power it is supposed to have and gets the fuel milage it is supposed to be getting. I have been thinking that it is either getting air bled into the system after it sits or possibly the lift pump could be going bad. Am I on the right track or is there something else that it could be? Can't really afford to let it sit at a shop over night if I don't have to cause it HAS to go every day at 3:00am.

I would check around the fuel filter for leaks.....And also change the filter if you have not....

I just had the same problem and the dealership replaced the fuel fiter housing and no more problem. Like he said check for leaks.
My new truck just did that. I changed the filter and found that the water drain on the wif sensor (not the wif itself) needed about 1/2-3/4 turn to get tight. Also my bleeder screw was stripped and would not tighten enough to seal. Replaced that with a metel one and it has been fine since.
You are on the right track mine is at the dealer roght now. I'll post when I have info.

Most likely a clogged line or filter would be my guess. Hope they get it fixed...

I had a tractor doing the same thing we finally found pin size hole in the fuel line it was letting air in and was losing pressure over night just like you are talking about. Hope this helps and let us know what you find out.

I changed the fuel filter, and didn't get the upper o-ring "just" right.
overnight it would start, run a few seconds, then need to be primed (faster then beating the starter to death).. removed, reseat o-ring, and reinstalled, all is better

Yeah it was the water in fuel sensor...leaking right out the hole in the bottom of it. Replaced it along with the fuel filter and all is fine now....thanks for the help guys!
