I have this package on my truck "Trailering wiring provisions, for camper, 5th wheel and gooseneck trailer, includes additional 8-way wiring harness routed to front of Pickup box and added 7-way sealed connector for the trailer harness"

There is a bundle of wires taped up between the cab and the bed anyone have any experiance with hooking this up in/on the bed for towing a gooseneck or fifth wheel?

I just love options you have to "figure" out how to use........

TIA

I used the same wiring harness that you have to wire up the bed plug for my 5th wheel... You may have to lenghten it to reach to the the back area of your truck... Also you will not use all the wire if you are just connecting a plug, as the wiring harness has connections for a third brake light for a slide in camper... The wiring is marked very well if you take your time when undoing the the bundle... Hope this helps and you can see my Truck Pics below for pictures of my bed plug........Triffid

i left mine bundled, just used the bumper mount RV plug. i dont want another hole in my bed for the same functionality I get from the bumper plug. for my fifth wheel, I slide the wiring between the tailgate and the bed and it never moves mor gets pinched and is out of the way and very clean. takes 10 seconds to do. probably not the info you are looking for, but i had the same thoughts of using it until I figured out I dont need yet another pigtail

I just used a hole saw to drill a hole in the bedside, just in front of the wheel well. I bought a bumper plug and recessed it into this hole. Wiring it up was simple, I just unbundled the wiring and ran it along the frame and up the bedside through the hole. Wired up the plug, siliconed the backside of the plug with the wiring exposed, and screwed the plug into the bedside. This location works great, as the wiring for the goose neck trailers comes right off of the goose neck, so I just run it to the side of the bed and plug it in. You could also run it to the back of the bed, but I was not sure if there was enough wiring to do that. I can provide pictures if needed.

I did the same as boilermaker. I recommend going in front of the wheel instead of behind because it will last longer. It will always get more stones and salt if it is mounted behind the wheel. You wouldn't believe how much longer it will last if it is in front of the wheel.

Thanks for the Info guys, I will let you all know where I end up puting the plug. I guess you guys answered the key question though that that bundle of wires actually severes a purpose....

I ran mine through the drain hole on the left side.
U will need to cut off the wire ends to make it through.
My connector is wire tied to the stake pocket since that's where my truck campers plug is.
I couldn't use the rear trailer plug since that's where i plug a trailer w/ the camper.

I prefer the plug in the bed. I don't like having extra wires hanging out of the bed. just too much chance of them getting tangled on the bed rail or something.
