im damn lazy....when i get into my truck...i get on cheek on the seat, and slllllllllllllllllllllllide on over:D

anyway...i have noticed that the outside edge of my seat isnt as "rigid" as it used to be. also, my leather is cracking just below it too...almost turning into a rip

1. has anyone else experienced this?

2. what have you , or what can be done about it?

Always done it in my trucks, already starting on my 08... I just plan on replacing the cushion when it gets bad enough to where I cant stand looking at it anymore. Wonder how much they are from the dealer....

this is common on these trucks. Vinyl repair guys can color match and fix the cracks and rips. You would have to replace the foam as well will and aupolstery guy too.

Maybe check with a Katzkins dealer.

Had that happen on an older truck of mine with no step bars. Now with the new truck that has step bars, I make sure my ass clears the edge of the seat before sitting - hopefully will lead to longer life.

Factory foam is less than $50 and rather easy to install. If it really sags, then the seat pan may be broken. Start here http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=232755&highlight=seat and follow my links. As for the leather, either a good upholstery shop or Katzkin both seats.

We have used katskinz in a couple smoker cars at our dealership. We put them in cars that smokers have ashed on their seats and burned holes through the fabric. They are really good quality. Here in northern Utah you're about 1400 bucks for both front and back seats, installed. Instead of looking like seat covers, you cant even tell that the leather is not stock. I've been super impressed with them.

If you use steps then you will tend to slide in and out......the fix: ignore the steps you spent good money on and jump in and out! :D

Good exercise

I think you will find that the edge panels are vinyl, not leather. You can repair vinyl sort of, but it is easier to get another panel stitched in.

If you're handy and patient.... put them on yourself and save the $500 installation. I did my 2002 1500hd, then my 2004 Nissan titan. The leather kit with vinyl lowers (like oem) was about $650. You can also choose your color pattern (I did a two tone in my Nissan). if you want a writeup with pictures, I posted on titantalk . com - just search my username.
Katzkins is great to deal with- very high quality stuff. They use vat dyed leather, not surface dyed leather. That means it doesn't get the ugly white cracks down the road.
I just bought an LTZ 3500hd- If it didn't have leather already, I'd be calling katzkins again.
