I haven't done it yet, but that's just because I'm too lazy. I've promised myself to take an afternoon this spring and put it in (along with the finger stick), but the leveling kit has priority.

Hey there, i just purchased my third diesel. i had a 96 ext 4x4 then 03 crew cab dmax and now an 05 crew dmax. i have heard and seen on this forum for a while now about EGR Blcoking and also the term finger stick. Can someone please fill me in on what each of these are, and what they do and if i should be doing this as well and what the benifits are of each....sorry to be long winded....

Real briefly, the EGR recirculates some of the exhaust gases back into the intake. GM does this for emissions. The EGR blocker plate prevents the gases from being recirculated. On non-federal trucks (the ones with an FE9 code in the glove box), you may throw codes on the CEL. The Finger Stick prevents the system from detecting the blocked EGR and creating a code.

If you don't want soot sucked back into your system, you should block it (along with a PCV reroute, which is something else I need to do this spring).

I blocked it and performed the re-route. Glad I did.

Blocked (no finger stick) and PCV rerouted. Wish I had done these on day 1. Waited a long time to reroute the PCV... I was intimidated by the process. But it was about the easiest thing I've ever done under any hood...

I will do them both when I do my exhaust and yank the cat.

I recently removed my whole EGR system and replaced the front pipe (no Cat). My only complaint is that I hadn’t done it sooner.
Improved turbo response, lower EGTs, cleaner running engine, piece of mind, you really can’t go wrong with this mod.

I had mine blocked untill I got my preditor... They don't talk to eachother so it throws a mass air flow code that bugs the Censored out of me. So as of now the blocker is out.
outside of that its a great upgrade...

Where can you get a egr blocker kit with finger stick and pvc reroute kit? Does any one have directions on how to install both of these kits.

THANKS

For the EGR blocker, go to www.kennedydiesel.com. Follow the links for DMAX Performance, then Duramax LLY, then EGR Blocker. You can get just the blocker, just the Fingers Stick, or both. It also gives instructions for installation.

For the PCV reroute, look in the DIY section. I don't think anyone offers a kit for this, so you'll have to do it yourself (a 15-minute job, I've been told, but I haven't done it yet myself. Maybe this spring ...).

All the parts for the PCV reroute can be bought at any local hardware store or plumbing supply for $25 or less...

1 5/8" T-connector
3 5/8" barbed nipples
3 5/8" hose clamps
5-7' of 5/8" heater hose
Some teflon tape
3-4 zip tiesThen, if you have a box knife, regular screwdriver, and a pair of pliers... that's all you're gonna need. As for the instructions, they have been posted over and over and over again, both in the DIY section as well as in other threads, both here and 3-4 other diesel forums. And it really is only a 15 minute job (or less).

I am blocked and sticked. I haven't had any issues since the install, but can't say that I noticed any difference either. I did the mods because they both make sense regardless if there is a perceptible change

I can't get the bolts out of mine.

I had the same problem with mine, I blocked mine last weekend and couldn't get the nut's loose.

I ran my truck hard for about 15 minutes got it extremely hot and the tried and the extra heat was the ticket....nuts cracked loose almost instantly with a little pressure. Let my truck cool off (about 2 hrs). Loosened the nuts the rest of the way put my plate in and everything has been great!

Great throttle response...I did it along with taking the 6.6 piece of the top of the motor and putting a pipe plug in it's place. Made a significant increase on my mileage. About 1.5mpg and that great considering i'am dragging around swampers everywhere I go!

I suggest it to anyone!!
