What is your meaning of ''mix''? Kerosene is lighter than diesel, doesn't have the BTU's or cetane rating of diesel, will not lubricate efficiently the fuel and injector pumps, injectors,so the answer would be NO.If you want to cut the diesel a little in the winter, cold months by say 5-10%,that would be OK,as long as you could find some kero that isn't dyed red.

One time when I had my 91 Cummins I was haulin a car for someone from NJ to Pittsburgh, PA. I was on back roads and LOW on fuel. All I could find was a 7-11/Citgo with Kero so I filled up. It worked fine. I never could tell the difference.

That was a one time deal. Do it consistently and your engine will tell the difference.

In the winter time, do they use K-1, or, kerosine, to thin out the diesel to help the fuel to keep from jelling? Of course, a small amount. Thanks...

Just don't do it...........kero DOES NOT have the btu content of #2ulsd so mileage will be worse.

I've mixed kerosene with mine sometimes during the winter, but I am also running biodiesel which really increases the lubricity of the fuel.

Winter blend fuel is #2 diesel cut with #1 diesel, not K-1 kerosene. Kerosene is very dry and low on BTUs and will be very abrasive and dangerous to your injection system if not additized for lubricity.

Here is my FIRST HAND INFO. Been running on Jet A (same as kero) for over 80k miles. I mix 2ozs of two stroke oil per gallon of kero no issues truck runs great. Downfall is less fuel mileage and a little less power. When i tow heavy stuff i put in #2 diesel. My truck gets 17.6mpg on kero and 19.3 on diesel. If you choose to run kero ADD LUBE. The jet a that i run has over 5000ppm of sulpher no issues with that either. Truck is an 06 lbz. For what its worth

How you get the kerosine for less than diesel?
I went to get some kerosine for a mix that I'm trying and it was $9.99 per gallon.
Jet fuel is more than diesel as well.

betcha he's a mechanic and uses the fuel they sometimes have to drain out of jet tanks.

Yes I get the stuff drained out of the wings from time to time. I would not run it if i had to pay anything close to what the #2 stuff costs due to the loss in mpg and power. One thing good about it other than its free is how clean it is. You can see right to the bottom of the 55gal drum before you add the extra oil to it.

My bud runs it in his 2001 Duramax. He keeps trying to get me to run it, but I choose not to. He doesn't mix it, unless the diesel that is left in the tank from the previous fill. He doesn't run it every tank, but I'd say 2 out of 3 or 1/2 the time. Nor does he add ANYTHING to the kerosene.

He's been running it for almost 2 years. It DOES save some money as Diesel is $4.49 and Kero is $2.99/ gallon.

He hasn't had any problems that I know of and he's got about 170k miles.
