Does anybody have info on the wix fuel filter. Heard they were one of the best on the market. Also trying to find out the micron rating.

Current number would be a 33910....Racor makes them all for the duramax though....

What I meant by that is that it doesn't matter if it says baldwin, fram, wix, purolator, joe-bob's filter company, etc....If it's a duramax fuel filter, racor made it, and the filter companies buy it from them with their name painted on the side of it with their part number...

Hi All, That WIX 33910 filter, I called WIX and they said it filtered down to 2 Microns. I then called Balwin and asked them about there New BF7827 Fuel
Filter and yes they dont make this filter however, it filters down to 5 Microns.
The cost is about $ 28.00 for the Baldwin and $ 45.00 for the WIX at O'Rielly's here locally.

Question for the group, does it matter which filter to buy. Is the WIX that much better at $ 45.00 (2 Microns filtering) vs the Baldwin at $ 28.00 (5 Micron filtering). Where online can I get the WIX 33910 cheaper than $ 45.00 and how often do you guys change the fuel filters out (10,000 miles?). Do you guys have any other fuel filters that you use?
Thanks a bunch.

I have used the wix filters with no problems. I now buy the new dual pleat filters from Eric (DmaxAlliTech). He sells the new filters for $30. He still has the older single pleat version also.

It is my understanding that all of new generation Duramax filters, be it GM/Delco, Napa, Baldwin, or Wix, are made by Racor and are the same. They only differ by the labeling printed on the outside of the can. (This was also supposed to be the case for the previous version of the filter.)

That being the case, buy the $28 filter. The savings will get you about 9 gallons of diesel to run through the new filter.

Being that all of the fuel filters are made by the same company (Racor), the micron rating should be the same for all. Maybe Baldwin is more realistic with their 5-micron statement ? I'm running a Wix #33910 on my truck now. I change the fuel filter every 10k miles.

When talking about particle filtering performance, you also need to include a statement about efficiency (you cannot talk about one without mentioning the other). I suspect that at 5 micron, the filter is 98% efficient while at 2 micron, it is 50%. Just a guess though, you need to ask the manufacture this. Same filter, just different points of reference.
