I am confused with the whole tranny thing. I know i want a whole new rebuilt tranny. but i cant decide which to go with. ATS has a great tranny for me for around 6100.00, the suncoast hits around the same after all mods, and the nadp is around 5500.00! but i was wanting to know does anybody out there run a nadp tranny, if so how is it????

Using the search tool for ' nadp ' shows some here that have them and quite happy with the race version. As to the full differences between the three plus some others is hard to say. All I can say is search out the post and read as many as you can stand.

llyreddragon, I am assuming(could be wrong), that if you are looking at NADP, that you may be in Alta? If so, talk to Ted at MPL motorsports in Lacombe as he has been doing some suncoast rebuilds. He could build you a SCIII or SCIV for cheaper than those prices you quoted.

Ive been doing a lot of searching too. What I've found is the prices between the ATS and Suncoast are really close for just parts. The ATS is so much more because of the co-pilot, but when you add that to a suncoast kit prices are really close.

yea the co-pilot is going to bump you up.i know getting the trans built dont cost that much without the co-pilot.give a couple vendors a call i know mike l from inglewood trans or eric merchant from merchant automotive are both great guys to deal with and wont steer you wrong.
good luck

X2. I would give Mike L a call and tell him what you plan on doing with your truck. He'll definetly steer you in the right direction.

If you look hard enough you might find ats has poor cust service after the sale. to give u an example, gillette diesel wont even touch ats stuff at all. nore will some others round these parts.
Suncoast did me WAYYYY right and M L was reluctant to ship.
M's stuff deffinetly ranks very very high though
So imo you only really have 2 options Mike's or suncoast:D

I had one of NADP's first trannies 6-7 years ago, It limped this past winter (due to an awful lot of abuse) and they replaced it with a full race at no charge.

I work with a guy who isn't happy with his NADP tranny either. And the NADP dudes in Edmonton are a hurtin group of guys if you ask me. They think they know more than anyone about your truck!

One of the guys had never heard of EFIlive before but told me if I needed help tuning that he could help for a price...

I have had a couple of these trannys i have never ran a nadp tranny so i can not give u feed back. The ats tranny was a good tranny although i did have some problems with it. A buddy of mine also has had 3 ats in his dodge. Ats has covered all warrenty on the trannys he has have but there still not the onces taking it out and putting it in. The ats warrenty is great. Suncoast on the other hand i have not had problems outta of the tranny period. they seem to hold up reliably and not give problems. i have had 1 suncoast fail but that was due to me not installing it properly. hope this helps. Either way they are both good trannys. Just read around on the fourms and see which one of the 3 is the most pouplar and go that way.

I agree 100% they talked down to me cause im young, and i didnt drive a dodge....and then i told them about EFI live and they said " thats stupid if you think your truck can go 12's with basic bolt on's and stock turbo"
I will never step foot in the place again, nor recommend them to anyone.
also, there "heavy hauler tranny" is crap. If your in Western Canada its worth the time to make your way to MPL motorsports in Lacombe!

Also, There "RACE" series tranny which i paid close to 8k for, never really was "right" i paid extra for a 1057, Billet shafts......Last week MPL did a new 1058 convertor for me and a Co-pilot and we found out they use a FRIGGEN 1050 Converter, no wonder it didnt feel like i thought it would...WTF! i got ripped off.

When you first bought your NADP tranny you should have gotten a sheet of paper saying everything that they installed in it... Dig that up and show it to them, have a journeyman tech from MPL write a statement that the tourque converter was not what was payed for. This is basically the same thing as theft, I would be getting a lawyer.

They owe you a full refund or at least a new tranny.

My Nadp Tranny performs like a dream. I have yet to put the big tunes to it, however it handles my edge on 5 easily. They say the tranny is $5500 dollars, however you will be writing a cheque for about 6200 dollars when you leave. Don't forget that the warranty on the tranny is void if you dont use Amsoil or Transyn... If you have the Mag-hytec pan installed... your looking at about appx 350 dollars for oil.

If your going to purchase a NADP tranny, deal only with a guy named Tony in the NAPC side of things... be very clear on what you want, how much you wanna spend, and what kinda warranty you are looking for.

I agree with you guys in regards to the attitudes of the guys at NADP. After I just spent 6200 dollars on the tranny they had the nerve to tell me I had to pay for a NADP sticker. Haha, can't wait to see them at August Blackout.

thanx for all the info, i now know who i will pick, it looks like i will go with suncoast lV and 1056 or which ever is better for towing and having a little fun. maybe even later thik of a co pilot, but i experienced the same with nadp (being young and the not owning dodge) and ats was actinmg like everything they have is so much better bc of a warranty, it seems like if the tranny is good then u would worry more on the tranny not its warranty!!!

I am planning on putting new guts in my tranny (Low stall converter, BD valve body, and clutchs). One guy tells me the good products and another says there not....

I have never had a BD valve body but BD and SunCoast both make them and I have been told by a few people that they would only recommend either if you needed a new valve body for whatever reason - otherwise a Transgo Jr kit will do the job. If you are tearing into the trans just do a SC IV - it is the full transgo, torque converter and clutches (better clutches with more per pack) and can be done for around $3,300 if you do it yourself.

Mereniuk,

I couldn't have explained it better hahah!!! If you don't got a dodge idling outside when you walk into NADP they think your a retard.

And what you said was close to what that guy I know said about his tranny. It holds the power, but just doesn't drive right. Sometimes his slips out of gear or gets the shift range inhibited message. He's got a co-pilot on his. I think his truck is an 03 LB7 with an edge/predator stack I believe.

My SC3 by Mike L is great.

I have also TRIED to deal with NADP a bit but like most of you I ended up making the 1 hour drive down to lacombe (MPL). I went to NADP for something one time and they tried to give me a dodge part.

Coming from the experience of owning 2 dodges both in excess of well over 1000hp (and having been through all the other brands of trannies in both) both trucks now have been running nadp's trannies and haven't had a glich in over 2 years. I also have a 06 chevy with a built motor pushing 800+ hp - that has shit out trannies of all brands at will -(nadp's is the only tranny that is holding up -full race with the billet input - it's been in for 2 1/2 months and the truck's not treated kindly). I refuse to peg names to companies and products that haven't worked for me because i'm sure they've worked for others - and I believe all vendors deserve a fair shake. From my experience any time NADP has had a challenge handed to them, they work to get it right, no matter what it takes. Speaking of warranty work - I have a "credit" for $10,000.00 with another company - because i didn't want another one of their trannies.....that's alot of t-shirts and stickers to buy. Just my two cents.

Mike, I've seen your trucks. And I'll be the first one to admit NADP has done a hell of a job. I'm not into public bashing either, and don't encourage it. We are a small shop and do not compare ourselves to NADP on any level. We specialize in duramax performance and are trying to build around that. NADP has been primarly a Dodge shop in the past. I hear they are experimenting with GM stuff and that's great I'm sure they will open some huge doors. Until then we will continue to offer a level of service and performance we can be proud of, and that is all I can expect from myself and my staff.
