: should I trade??
slickr1 02-10-2005, 07:12 PM I have had my 04 hd cc for about 6 months. Prior to the Chevy I had a SuperDuty Crew Cab. I have found a few 2005 f250 6.0 cc for 36.500, they are going to give me 34,500 for my hd.
I love my chevy but miss the room in the ford.(yes the chevy has less room)
Room is important for the three kids.
I only tow my boat which is about 5k.
in-put pls.
Thanks

Turfmower 02-10-2005, 07:30 PM Find out when it was made there is a problem with the 5 speed on 04 and early 05 Fords. Cracking cases something about a snap ring, There are a bunch of guys *****ing about it on Plow site.
akdiesel 02-11-2005, 12:56 AM I have three kids and one of them is in a car seat. I have plenty of room for them in the crew cab.
If you are made of money than buy both GM and Ford. You are going to loose money buy no mater how good of deal it is.
Bill Gisse 02-11-2005, 07:48 AM If you just have to have another truck, sell yours out right and deal for the new one. The dealer should discount 7-10k if he wants to sell. After all, new Ford diesels don't sell as well as GM's (my opinion) and are rumored to have more problems than GM or Doge.
ColoradoD-Max 02-11-2005, 09:30 AM No
blnagel 02-11-2005, 09:35 AM NO!
Ben
HOOKEM 02-12-2005, 12:03 AM Ditto on the "No", but will add "Hell No!"
Gray Gmax 02-12-2005, 12:36 AM if you have to ask??? then yes
neverenuf 02-12-2005, 11:43 AM I'm with Gray Gmax. Trade it for a Ford:cookoo::Insane:
Gas Ex 02-12-2005, 05:11 PM I would have a tough time doing the trade!
1 The problems with the Fords
2. Fords get bad mileage
3. Loyal the the Make, (But not if it sucked)
BiteMe 02-12-2005, 05:53 PM I would have a tough time doing the trade!

supatrucka 02-12-2005, 05:56 PM Just do it if it makes you happy life is to short. dave
szippijr 02-12-2005, 07:11 PM Gm is not selling any trucks right now, Ford is killing them. Gm just offered 0% up to 60months on even the duramax. I don't know how there gonna give u 34xxx on a trade in. There gonna get stuck with the truck. The payment on the new truck will be less and the best part is ur paying total princable on the first payment. You shure as hell ani't gettin burried in that truck.
If your that much in doubt .... then trade it.
Sounds like you're not THAT happy anyway....
TheBac 02-12-2005, 08:24 PM I would have a tough time doing the trade!
1 The problems with the Fords
2. Fords get bad mileage
3. Loyal the the Make, (But not if it sucked)4. Ford transmission troubles
5. You wouldn't be getting equal value in trade, GM for Ford.
And my vote for best new Forum Name.......Gas Ex!

slickr1 02-12-2005, 09:35 PM Well I am going to keep my old 04 junker LOL. Dealer (Ford) has been calling me two time a day. Last time I told him to knock off 2k more and I would do it. NOT. Have not received any more calls.....
TheBac 02-12-2005, 10:07 PM Whew! Another crisis averted! :ro)
dpower 02-12-2005, 10:29 PM GM isn't selling any trucks right now? Interesting.....the dealer here had 10 or so new 05's at the beginning of the week and is left with 1 2wd in 6 days time. Used dmaxs are hard to come by.....they would make a pile of money on the used dmax. Where the heck did you get the terribly flawed info?
peeto 02-13-2005, 07:40 PM dpower-
Right now GM has 1.9 MILLION excess trucks in inventory...hence the rebates and the 0% financing...glad to see your local dealer is moving trucks but as a whole GM is WAY over in inventory...if it wasn't for the "DURAMAX MOAN" I'd pick up an 05 today...but I'll wait for the T900 platform to debut in the next few years instead...good luck.
NWDmax 02-13-2005, 07:51 PM My brother in law tried to buy a 2002 Lt crewcab Dmax with 71k and they won't go any lower than 31k trade or 28k cash.Around these parts the used ones are few and far between and they are mighty proud of them.
Kurt W. 02-13-2005, 08:14 PM Can't remember where I heard this, But. Isn't Ford going to back to the 7.4? I heard they had so much trouble with the 6.0 that they are going to give it up.
Mike Mac 02-13-2005, 11:08 PM Peeto,
I live in Phoenix and there are NO Duramax's on the lots here. Every one that is here is waiting for the customer who ordered it to come and pick it up. I went to look at a new one just this week and they told me the only thing they had was in back waiting to be picked up. So they sell every Duramax they make.
srode 02-14-2005, 06:29 AM I don't think either company is having any problems selling diesels. Gas trucks and SUVS like suburbans, those they are having problems selling. 12 to 14 MPG with these gas prices (which will continue to rise) hurts.
peeto 02-14-2005, 10:45 AM The bottom line is if they were selling so many trucks why are they offering 0% and 3k to move them?...check with a GOOD stock analyst and get the details...it's all there...it seems the past few years when I was considering a diesel the rebates applied to every truck BUT a diesel...not now...hopefully they can move em and get on to the next generation production and get some of the bugs worked out...if I'm going to pay 45-50k for a truck I don't want the problems as described in too many of these posts.
dpower 02-14-2005, 07:29 PM Man I think you are really confused.....There are not that many problems. No matter what you buy there are gonna be problems. You say your gonna wait 2 years for a NEW platform....good luck cause that is gonna have problems so add at least 2 production years to that. If its the new yota you are reffering to (T900)...don't hold your breath. The tundra has been out for quite a few production years and its still under gunned....not to mention it really isn't a true full size pickup....its 7/8ths. By the way....GM runs this same promotion every year in the spring and it applied to my diesel. Good luck with whatever you deceide.....but waiting 2 years isn't gonna get you anywhere....just look at dodge....they have gone backwards with the 05 3rd. gen....plenty of reading on that over at the TDR.
akdiesel 02-15-2005, 05:13 PM I will agree completly with you dpower.
Sounds like peeto is comparing apples to oranges. The diesels are a major selling item for all three producers and it still is not that much of an impact on the total sales for them.
When you look at Fords sales numbers I am sure you have to take into consideration the Buick, Jags, etc. The same can be said for GM and Daimler. Did I spell that right?
szippijr 02-15-2005, 05:50 PM I agree with all, BUT, Why would Gm offer such a great program if the trucks were moving. This is the first time the Duramax is offered for 60months at 0%. Ford has no incentives at all right now. If U guys look in the dealar posts, there is a dealar selling 200 below invoice. WHY?.
dpower 02-15-2005, 06:48 PM Do you guys truly think they pay what they show you the invoice price is.....ahhh no. Big dealers often go 200 below "invoice" because they get volume bonuses.
peeto 02-16-2005, 09:14 PM Good thing you guys don't play the stock market (hehehe)...by the way...the 900 platform is the next generation GM truck line FWIW...I WON'T buy a truck that MOANS half way down the road but that is just my personal feeling...I guess I'm particular about spending almost 1/2 of what my house cost for something that isn't right from the get-go. But to each his own...I can wait 3-4 years if I have to...1 more truck before retirement and I want it to be a good one...enjoy!
arguy 02-16-2005, 09:45 PM      Just why does it matter who sells more trucks? Buy what you like - and like what you buy. If it bugs you to own it, SELL IT! And buy something else.
Barry Smith 02-17-2005, 04:46 AM I spend alot of time on thedieselstop.com and after reading alot of the post I think you would be alot safer to stick with your Duramax.
This is just my opinion but I'm guessing in the next few years having a Ford with a 6.0 in it will be a liability when it comes to resale. The 6.0 is one of the shortest engine runs (4 years) ever.
slickr1 02-17-2005, 10:02 AM Thanks guys, I was just looking for some input. I had 2 Powerstrokes prior to my Duramax. I did not have any problems with them. And I am happy with my chevy. And it looks like it will set in my garage for a few more years.
cdhd2001 02-17-2005, 01:18 PM My 2003 Dmax had the 0% for 60 months or 1.9% for 72 months offer when I bought it new. I also bought mine for $1,500 below "invoice".
All of the car manufacturers use these promotions to boost sells. So why is it "bad" when GM uses a promotion? The consumer wins (lower price), and GM wins (sell more vehicles), so what is the problem?
BTW, ford's website is advertising a big 0.0% financing promotion on cars and trucks.
