I have a 95 1 ton 6.5 td 4x4 that the speedo acts normal up until 50 to 55 mph then gets jerky and will not go any higher. I changed the speed sensor on the manual trans. Any ideas. The truck also misses once and awhile when accelerating on the freeway ramp, chugs a little and then runs fine. Looking at other threads makes me think to try a new oil pressure sender. Again any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,

kirkc, i dont know about speedo problem but as far as the miss you should check for codes first. it may be ops or pmd or lift pump or even the dreaded ip. pull codes first and we can go from there. if you dont know how to pull them you can go to john kennedys website it tells you how to.(kennedydiesel.com)

kirkc, post some info on your truck. go to user cp and edit signature and let us know what you have in it. it comes up at the bottom of your posts and makes it easier to figure out problem if we know what you have in your ride.

The speedo issue that I have also confuses the cruise control to the point it does not work. Anybody have a similar problem with their speedo?

Try Checking Grounds. These Trucks Are Notorios For Bad Grounds. Back Of Engine Block By Firewall Is A Hidden Ground-often The Culprit. Also Check All The Plug-ins At Firewall. Pull Apart And Check For Corrosion On Connector Spades. Check Voltage At Ops Plug And Check Same At Lift Pump. These Are Simple Quick Checks. Do You Have A Spare Pmd And Ops? If You Do You Can Swap Out Really Easy And See If It Is Problem. If Not You Should Get Spares To Have In Case.

Welcome to the site Kirk,
Since you are OBD-I a paperclip to read codes is all you need, the how to do it is in FAQs at top header, jumpy speedo sounds like a wiring problem, do you have a hand held GPS available to check against,
Rest of you guys know in a 95 where does speed come from sensor in tranny??? maybe that is getting flaky

I will check for codes tommorrow. I have never had the check engine light go on. Went to the Kennedy website per a Bowtie 65 and printed off the instructions so I will know what I am doing. I also already replaced the speed sensor on the tranny. Thanks again for the location of the hidden ground location.

The RPM's come from the alternator. Loose your + - from the alt and RPM will be zero.
