I just got back from a 2500 mile trip from Seattle to Monterey, CA and return and I am very happy with the results. I took 101 around Hood Canal (very crooked and hilly) for about 75 miles before I got on I-5 to head south. After about 1000 miles of interstate driving the DIC said 19.3. It dropped down to 18.0 while crossing the Siskyus but came back up after a couple hundred miles. I kept it slow (around 64 mph) on the interstate to get max mpg. When I put it up to 70 the mpg dropped below 17. Drove a couple hundred miles around Monterey including Big Sur and 17 mile drive and by the time I got back out on I-5 north bound I was down to 18.2. I drove 101 again up through Eureka, another crooked, hilly stretch for around 300 miles so the mpg again dropped down to the low 18s. By the time I got back to Seattle I was at 18.5 for the entire 2400 miles. Truck ran like a champ and was very comfortable out on the road although it was kind of hard to find a suitable parking spot for the long bed crew cab at the winery in Napa. Over all great truck. I think I'll try it again in a few months.

don't wanna burst your mileage bubble:), but i hope your dic is accurate. mine is not very accurate. for example just just hand calced 13.25 mpg and the dic was showing 15.2! i've had same results with mostly highway mileage, it showed 19.3 and hand calced was mid 17s.
if it's accurate, you rock!:D

The DIC is not trustworthy. Mine is almost 2 MPG too optimistic. My truck regularly averages about 17.5 MPG hand calculated. Most of my driving is highway empty, at about 62 MPH. When I tow my RV (about 7000 lbs), I get anywhere from 10.5 to 12.8 hand calculated. If you know Washington I-90 then you can see why the wide spread in towing fuel milage. Bottom line is, do a hand calc on the fuel milage every time. You will see a wide difference between reality and what the DIC is telling you.
My DIC is very accurate. Within 2-3 tenths of a gallon on total fuel consumed on fill-ups and is always within a few tenths of hand-calc'd MPG

:agreed: My DIC is also very accurate, but for your own peace of mind you might want to verify it with hand calculations. Also, my averages are about like yours, on similar terrain. When the weather is warmer and we get summer grade fuel, the mileage will get even better.
