: Looking at new 05 ...
1999Cobra 02-10-2005, 03:34 PM O.K. this will sound stupid - but - what's the prediction on incentives in about six weeks ??? Ordering an 05 2500HD LT DMAX with just about everything you can imagine stealer said I have to accept the incentive at time of delivery (no lock-in's) on incentives.
Current is $2500.00 any idea/feel from any employees on any scuttlebut you may have heard on the direction on incentives for the near future???
As always thanks in advance and pardon my ignorance -
Mike:p:
It's always a crap shoot. $2500 is pretty good for this time of year. Could it get better? Maybe, but $2500 now is a lot better than zero in six weeks. I'd say go for it and enjoy it now. If it gets better, say maybe three grand next month you need to ask yourself is the wait worth the chance?
Scotty Seelen 02-10-2005, 04:42 PM Go into your nearest dealer and do a search for the exact truck you want. More than likely, some dealer will have it sitting on his lot. Your dealer usually has to do a swap. If you don't want the discount, they have 0% financing for 60 months right now.
RickDLance 02-10-2005, 04:55 PM I checked in Missouri today. It is only $1000 for the Duramax.
Detonate 02-10-2005, 05:49 PM Just picked up my 05' 2500HD DM yesterday. The incentive is only $ 1000 or 0% for 60 months. The 0%/60 is a great deal. I get killer rates at my bank but this is free financing. My deal was either take the $ 1,000 or save $ 5,500 in interest! No brainer!
McRat 02-10-2005, 05:57 PM If it's going to be awhile, get a GM Mastercard, and use it like cash for awhile. IIRC, 5% of your purchases are put into an account towards a new GM. Saved a bunch doing that.
escholten 02-10-2005, 06:03 PM I just picked up my new 05 Duramax this past weekend. Incentives were as follows $1000.00 plus an additional $1000 or special GMAC financing. If I'm not mistaken these are good till the end of March.
BH in AZ 02-10-2005, 06:30 PM The price of crude oil will most likely remain high or increase. This should cause the sale of fuel guzzling vehicles to remain slow, which is an incentive for GM to continue with rebates on full size trucks.
They will most likely change form, but will be similar in amount. The promotion that ended in January was the GM Loyalty cash back. The big promotion this time is zero interest.
Sales normally increase going into summer so there is less motivation to have incentives. However, last spring had some of the best deals ever, and the rebate for a Duramax was the same as for the gassers.
If you find a vehicle you like and an incentive program you like, buy it. I doubt you will see any big changes in the next program. As long as the Duamax trucks are not stacking up on the dealer lots, GM has no motivation to increase the incentives on this vehicle.
The GM site shows $2,000 cash back on a Duramax in the western region. However the Edmunds site shows $1,000 cash back on the Duramax plus an additional $1,000 if you finance through GMAC. These programs can be confusing and it can be difficult to find out the program details.

just FYI on this method... the easiest thing to do is get online to GMC.com or Chevy and do a search in your area and surrounding areas for the truck you want then call or go by there and work it out.
I tried the dealer search and after 4 tries of losing each truck they had located for me I finally found out that since I was getting such a good deal they would be losing money on the trade and were dropping the ball on purpose. They told me if I paid $2000 more they would make the trade for me.
Long story short...I found out where the truck was, Houston, called the dealer, bought a plane ticket for $100, the salesman in Houston picked me up AT the airport IN the new truck and I drove it home the same day.
Its worth it to do your own homework. the salesmen will bend you over the first chance they get. This is my own personal experience and mean no offense to anyone. just be aware of what goes on behind the scenes.
RickDLance 02-10-2005, 09:58 PM I don't know where this stuff is coming from. Here is the link for the south central region and as of this minute it reads $1000 or 0%. You should be able to hit the back button and enter your zip and get your area. Just copy and paste to your browser address box.
