I'm looking to upgrade to a straight tho exhaust. There's a 4" system available with 5" out (last 15" of pipe) by the tail end. But at the same time, I do like my music and talk to my wife in the cab at time while traveling.):h

Should I just get the 3" straight tho exhaust ? or the 4" with a turbo muffler? or ?

I don't know about an extended cab truck, but in my crew cab it isn't loud at all inside. To those poor souls who might be beside you when you nail the gas its a diff story!! :grd: But inside I can still talk in a normal voice with no prob!

I have a regular cab with a 3" straight pipe and the sound isn't that noticable in the cab. My wife was concerned about me going to a straight pipe, after riding in it she is fine.

you bought the right diesel if you want the st. pipe. mine is an ext. cab with a 3" st. exhaust and it is not that loud at all. something about the 6.5 litre that makes the noise level very tolerrible. my truck is also chipped and i have boost level cranked up a bit. uncork that thing and enjoy the sound and added power. breathing free is diesel friendly.

Thanks guys. It's seems like the 4" straight pipe wouldn't be that loud in the cab after all.
Having 4" straight pipe, is there any issues regarding back pressure on diesels?

4" is overkill for most no BP issues, 3.5" is plenty big, turbo really knocks back the dB one would expect with straight pipe.

not that loud, compared to what? compared to a cummins no its not. its loud if u want it to be but with the windows up its not very bad at all. crack the windows and drive by some buildings and ull turn some heads. all i can say is do it, its got a sound totally differnt than any other truck on the road

Has anyone noticed a significant change in EGT's after removing the muffler?

CanadianRigger> All I can find is the kit # 912 from flo~pro which is a 3" exhaust system. Would you still have the 4" kit number off your invoice?

As i said before it was a partial kit for a D'max upgrade with a couple parts from our own mix, i should be able to get part numbers for each piece once i get back home. I'm currently working out of town.
