Call banks tech support. They are very helpful. I tow alot with mine, and they said go with 6gun, it has tow settings too

the ottomind has different fuel and timing maps which makes it better for towing and fuel mileage. what do you want out of it?

Six Gun is more power oriented and Ottomind is more towing with a little more power oriented like Kyle said above.

I have the Six Gun. I don't even use it anymore for power. It's only there for gauges. My PPE now controls all the power. Unless you really think that you'll NEVER upgrade the tranny, then the Banks is ok. If not, don't waste your money.

Well PPE sounds good and all BUT its not a wide aftermarket company and itll its really proven i dont wanna spend 900$ on it...i know of 2 of my friends that had problems with that....dont get me wrong sounds good tho

PPE is WELL proven my man. The only probs that I know of are normally user errors.

Nah. There was one issue with the remote start, but that has long since been fixed. PPE knows what they're doing and is at the top of the game when it comes to programmers.

on the fly is great but keep in mind you can't reset your trans when you change the performance level.

I edited my post sorry for taking it further off topic.

Just be known that the on the fly type setups have the lower power settings. So if you want more power later, you'll have to get another programmer. I learned that the hard way.

If your going to buy a tuner for a duramax, PPE is one of the best if not the best. They have proven them selves very many times.

Why is that the PPE has way more black smoke than the banks six gun? Everyone ive seen with a PPE pours on the black smoke.I didnt know if they just dump a ton of fuel in there tunes or what? Im new to the diesel tuning but ive seen countless amounts of tuning done on the later model Corvette's as ive spent more hours than i count on my Heads cam and nitrous C6 corvette! My six gun hardly puffs a bit of black smoke!!!

This is from an lbz motor.

Stock I would get 15ish to 16.
On the sixgun I went through many tank fulls of fuel at each level. I found that level 4 was the best for mileage. In town I got 17ish. Level 1 is stock. Level 2 actually had the worst mileage. Now, maybe level 2 would be great on a long trip, but I did not want to try it. On the highway with the sixgun I got 20ish.

Oh, for this tests I took off my hptuner tune right now, but will be going back to using both. I just wanted to see what the ottomind had.

I am going to try all levels again, but I just started on level 3 right now. I am getting 18 to 18 1/2 in town/country. I want to put many tanks through each level because of wind & temp. changes. I have done a couple of hwy road trips on level 6 & I got 18 - 18 1/2, I was passing people really fast so I am sure that could be better. My guess is level 4 will be the best again on this one, but I am curiuos to see the other levels too.

The egt did stay way down even on level 6. I was very impressed with that. Again, I can not wait to tow the fifthwheel with the ottomind.

Gale Banks Engineering prides themselfs on clean diesel power. They design there tunes to not put out smoke. They want to change the way people think about the old, loud, stinky diesels.
