Ok I've got another question.

Will the Allison limp off the line or shortly thereafter with say a Predator installed at the 100hp level?

Basically, I'd like to know if anyone has experienced a limp off the line, or while doing a light to light drag race.

It seems that most guys limp at the 4-5 shift.

So someday down the road when I can afford a programmer, will I be able to run someone light to light without frying the stock ally?

Also, what are the precautions that need to be taken to help a stock ally live longer under a high hp load? Tow/haul? 5th gear lockout? etc.

Thanks in advance!

JJ: I am by no means an expert and hopefully others will chime in. From what I understand the words stock ally and high hp do not belong in the same sentence together. It is bad news for the transmission. I believe most folks do limp the transmission on the four to five shift, however high hp is not good for the entire shift range.

Never heard of a limp off the line. Usually it will limp when the torque kicks in at TC lockup. Since you have no lockup in first or second, you get slippage in the TC. That keeps the clutches from slipping.

My dad limped his LB7 off the line doing a 4 wheel boosted launch with a Banks Six Gun/speed loader on level 6. It only happened once and he has street raced with it more than once or twice.):h

Stock clutches 1-2 can take up to 900LBS TQ, so no slipping from the line, usually 4-5 as the other guys mentioned. If it slips limps at 1-2 there may be some other issues involved causing it.

I'm running the 100hp predator on a stock trans. No limp off the line through third gear. I haven't kept my foot in it much past that, need the trans to work for a few more months. 85hp setting was fine through all shifts without limping. My truck only has about 7k miles with only a little light towing, so clutches were fresh before the predator. Probably not looking so good any more.

Not for very long. If you slipped the Ally off the line, do not go out of town.

ive run standard juice, std juice stacked with quad 135, and now a hot juice ***. today i stacked the hot juice *** with the quad 135. limped trans in rain being stupid with 90hp juice. limped it once more on the highway juice and quad stacked pushing 85 and trying to accel. you should be ok with a 100hp tune. just watch the 4-5 and 5-4 shift
