I have been doing some research, trying to find a gooseneck with a removeable ball... looks like the B & W gooseneck is a pretty popular choice. I like the idea of being able to get the companion adapter if I want to pull a 5th wheel camper. Just wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with the B & W?

Also the reason I am looking into it is the place where my wife is buying her GN horse trailer from said they won't install a hide a ball in a 2500HD because it can't be intalled without cutting the center support bracing out of the bed. I thought that was kind of funny and after doing some poking around I am seeing a lot of bolt in kits that require little to no cutting at all. Thats ok, they would have gladly put in a reese rail system for only $850. What a joke. I have yet to find a hide a ball on the web that requires you to cut the bed supports out

Well anyways this is my first post and I think I will have to hang around here for a while, looks like there is lots of good info to be had.

The B&W only requires you to cut a little pinch weld to slide in the main support bars. No other cutting besides obviously the bed. From what Ive read on here no problems with them at all, I think they are by far the most used kit on here. I have one but havent towed with it yet. Install wasnt bad at all, I had a little trouble with a couple of lock washers but I ended up just using a flat washer, the supplied nut and an aircraft nut as a backup.

X3 on the B&W. Second one I've had and I love it. Go the B&W web site and they have a step by step instruction guide. Pretty straight foward and good pictures ! :D.

In the past I used the B&W but the shop I took my new 08 Dually to didn't sell B&W products, but sold the Drawtites. I ended up getting the Hide-A-Goose and so far, been just as happy with it as I was with the B&W Turnover.

I have a Putnam lock and load gooseneck hitch that I installed myself. The only cutting I did was a single hole in the bed for the ball to pop up through. I really like the Putnam.

That companian fifth wheel hitch is a big plus for going w/ the B&W.

I have the B & W's in 3 of my trucks. One of them cracked on my wife's truck. They replaced all 3 of them! :thumb:
