Hey Everyone:

I am the freshley proud 2nd owner of an 02' 2500HD DA.

I would like to thank everyone on the forum for there posts, as they heavily influenced my decicion to buy.

I would like to point out that I have been GM loyal my whole life. When It came time to update(the old truck was a 92' chevy which I kept:) ) I Researched as to where to spend my hard earned dollar even if it ment getting a Ford or a Dodge.

I have put over 70,000 miles on powerstrokes(01' F350 Larait-company truck), have been around alot of dodge's(good motor, too bad the rest is junk) and went away unimpressed.

When push comes to shove, you can't beat the new GM's for overall quality. Every truck on the road has it's problem's, granted, but if you open an objective eye to the newer (year 2000+) Diesel pickups you can't beat the Duramax/Allisson Combo.

Anyway, thanks for the info everyone, It is much apperciated.

Jake.

T:help: NYWelcome....you won't be disappointed.....Just to let you know I have resisted the temptation to juice up my truck. I have also resisted the urge to be anal about maintenence. I have 66,000mi on my 2001 and only had one minor tranny problem. That was covered under warranty. I follow the GM guidelines as far as maintenance is concerned. Nothing more, nothing less. The items I am religious about is the fuel, air, and of course oil filters. Every 5000 for a oil and filter change, and 15,000 for fuel and air. I use Fluids that are recommended by GM for each particular item. The only synthetic stuff I use is rear diff and transfer case. Take every thing you read here with a grain of salt. These trucks are tough. IMHO the maintenance procedures outlined in your owners manual are sufficient. Again, welcome and have fun with your new toy.

....Like you, I upgraded from a 2000 GMC Sierra K2500 to an '02 K2500HD D/A x-cab and never looked back. It gets great mileage and has incredible power with our 10.5' slide-in camper loaded up and the "tow/haul" feature of the Allison is by far it's most rewarding attribute. IMHO, Ford or Dodge are not even in the running. Great choice and good luck...

A little late, but I moved this to the new truck section because that is where it belongs.
