: Got new truck! Dealer screwed up the XM $%@!
Detonate 02-09-2005, 10:30 PM Picked up my new quad cab LLY today after a real bad day at work. It apparently didn't end! The F-ing dealer screwed up my order and didn't get the XM radio in the truck. Now I know it sounds like it's not a BIG deal (which it isn't the end of the world) BUT I F-in' wanted it! PERIOD!!
It would appear to me that the factory XM radio is more then a radio swap. My 05 Z51 C6 has it and it has an additional satelite ant. on the roof. Does anyone know if this a doable upgrade?? I don't care about the economics of it as I would make the dealer eat it. Can it be done?? If it's a matter of routing the wire and mounting it on the roof, no big deal. Need some reality!!!!
Thanks!
Max Power 02-09-2005, 10:42 PM Fortunately for you GM now offers and OEM like solution. Hopefully the dealer will pay for it since he screwed up.

I'd be more pissed off about the fact that your dealer gave you a (Dodge?) quad cab instead of a GM.):h
mpl897 02-10-2005, 07:07 AM GOTO A LOCAL RADIO SHOP in town and have them install and have dealer pay 4 it.
"circit city" or such

Haahahhahhah!!!!
The biggest problem is that dealer is a friend of mine and my neighbor! Makes it harder to ream his a$$ out! This link that was given was a great lead! I already mad him feel like crap!
I guess he'll have to take another $2K off my new ZO6!
Cobra#3747 02-10-2005, 09:03 AM I put it in my truck, took about an hour. They make a factory kit to put in, includes all the harness, antenna, receiver and such. All plug and play. I think dealer cost on the kit is in the 330-360 range and around 1.5 labor. So it wont break your friend to have it done.
03GMC2500HD 02-10-2005, 09:07 AM At least yours had the right color interior in it! I special order mine with every option just the way I wanted it. I did all the homework for the options all the order codes and all the salesman had to do was copy the info down. He screwed up the int. color code and when i went to pick the truck up i about puked when I saw the light int in my new black truck. He tried to throw in a free scotch brite and a little $$$ off the top but I made him order a new one and he can eat this one. Had to wait another 5-6weeks but it was the truck I ordered! I didn't spend that kind of $$$ to settle for something I didn't want!
McRat 02-10-2005, 10:16 AM Could be worse. We special ordered the last year Camaro. 335HP, SS, 1LE, M6, Hardtop, essentially an AutoX version you would never find on a dealer's lot.
They "lost" it. Too late to order another one as it was the last year for the Camaro. Where it went, who knows? My guess is someone else liked the "build" who was further up the food chain than a customer.
We had the Z06 48hrs later.
Ape0r 02-10-2005, 12:03 PM The one I use (interfaces with stock radio, installed in ~45 minutes by yours truly):

The GM kit (requires drilling roof):

Max Power 02-10-2005, 12:38 PM Yes the GM kit requires roof drilling but it intigrates better with the OEM system. Trust me, get the GM system.
Cobra#3747 02-10-2005, 02:46 PM Drilling the roof is not a big deal, its pretty hard to mess it up, just make sure they get someone that has done a couple or a competent (i dont want any jokes) guy to work on it. I use a stepped drill bit, they even give you a template where to drill the holes. Then I use the template folded like a tray to catch all the metal shavings from drilling, no problems, no mess.
Detonate 02-10-2005, 04:53 PM Thanks for all the info, and war stories! They ordered the kit this morning and I will install it myself. I was wondering why it was so cheap and then realized it is a plug and play unit. I guess once it plugs into the existing radio it knows its XM time.
Cobra#3747 02-10-2005, 06:48 PM yes, all plug and play, radio will work as if it came from the factory.
If you are installing it yourself, here is a little tip, they want the 2 screws holding the receiver to have the point facing the back of the truck, making it a pain to get them in there and tighten them. Just reverse the clips they screw into and put the screw tip facing the front of the truck and attatch it.
Oh and you need to be able to drill a 5/8" hole if I remember right, I have 2 stepped bits, one that goes to half inch and then the second one to get to the required size.
