I am sure this is in the wrong spot but hopefully someone will move it for me..... besides not ever starting my diesel pickup what products have proven themselves to be the most cost effective for improving fuel mileage......which tune or tuner?.......which exhaust system if any?.....pcv retroute?.......egr block and fingerstick?.......cold air intake or stock?....... I am willing to try some upgrades but would rather hear what experience others have had with products first. Thanks in advance for any and all help. :D

You might want to do a search for your answer. This has been beat to death lately.

Well, I did a search, and this turned up to be the 10th post down, and so far no good info. I'll keep scrolling, trouble454, as I'm getting pretty curious about this myself. I do know my neighbor just put on an exhaust - magnaflow? catback I think - and told me he has noticed a mpg increase. Another friend has no mods, just a chip/program by his local tech(sorry thats all the info I've got) and he also claims a mpg increase. Are these mods cumulative? I have no idea. I'll keep scrolling, hopefully there are more answers.

You can look at the mods that I have done. I can honestly say that I'll never pay for these mods in fuel savings. And yes, I am very disappointed. Not i the truck, but in the lack of fuel mieage gains achieved by all these mods.

1. Keep the tires inflated to the correct psi. Try to stay with 245s or 265s
( Free )
2. Open up the exhuast ,cat back or all the way your choice. ( $400-500 )
3. Get a good tuner ( $400-800 )
4. Keep your foot off it ( Free )
5. Stay under 2k rpms ( Free )
6. Open up the air box ( PPE air Box mod Free )
7. Run a synthetic oil ( $ 80-100 )

I agree with most of what JDiesel said, but the modified intake and exhaust probably won't make a significant change in your MPG. One thing to add is don't lift the truck, that will cost you MPG. Your right foot will make the biggest differnce of all ;)

It's a truck. If you want super mileage, you should have bought a Prius.

The Tech. How happy are you with all your Banks gear? Aside from the LLY, it's the setup I've been looking at for my LBZ

I wouldn't have gotten the Six Gun since I got power hungry (but it does work well as a set of gauges and warning devices). Other than that, the other parts are what they are. I also would have probably gone with a larger exhaust, but the Banks exhaust was the only mod on the truck when I bought it, so I haven't changed it.

what's so great about the prius? last time i checked, the TDI jetta was less expensive, better quality, and 10+ mpg better!

on yeah, and it doesn't need batteries!

We're not comparing the prius to another compact car.

Hey Tech, what was your gas mileage increase when you put the six gun in? Just curious still. I like the safety of the Banks, and the lack of black smoke as compared to the Edge, so it may be between that and EFI Live, but not sure I want to get into all that. Thanks.
