I just got my diamondback HD cover and installed it yesterday. My question for those who have one is how tight did you adjust the locking pins? How much did you compress the weather stripping? Alot? Just a little? For those of you that have had theirs a while. Is it weather tight and what else might need to be done to the truck bed to make sure that water and dust doesn't get in??? I love the look of the cover. Can't wait to test it out more.

Thanks,

I just helped my brother install one on his 05 F350... We compressed the weatherstripping to about half of its uncompressed thickness.

As for the seal - I think it will be fairly close to weathertight - with the exception of the tailgate. There is no weatherstripping for the sides of the endgate - only the top. You could probably put some in yourself though...

Thanks. I think mine is a little snug and I will adjust. I do like the cover. Also, they do make a seal for the tailgate. Just do a google for "tailgate seal" and you will find them for around 30.00 most anywhere. I will be getting some of that weather seal for my tailgate. I should be able to seal up the bed well enough to keep most everything out. Just need to do something with the stake pockets and I should be good to go.

I set it fairly tight for the first few weeks and then adjusted it a bit looser. It's stays very dry in there. The only water I've seen has been towards the back where it can get in along the sides of the gate.

Well, the best way I've found is to install cover as straight as possible and tighten weather stripping to about half of its height. Then install a wife in the bed, with flashlight, take a water hose and go around the truck at the seal areas of the cover and if she reports there's a leak right where you just had the hose, place thumb over end of hose, to add pressure and tell her to look real close at that spot and spray her down. Just to make sure, yeah it leaks right there, then open to see how wet it and she is. then tighten and repeat until your happy with the results.
