any one know if I could get a stock trans gauge for a auto and make it work if I put a sending unit in the ZF-6?

Is that just a gauge or whole insturment cluster? The sending unit would be easy even if you had to remove the PTO cover and weld in a bung.

dont know if it is just gauge. already have the sending unit in the PTO cover
would the wiring already be there?

Not sure. The question is does the TCM on the Alli require a temp signal? If so the wiring would probably not be there because our trucks don't have a TCM...unless you call our left foot a TCM!!!! I would guess the sending unit goes to the TCM then to the insturment cluster or TCM to ECM to the cluster. The ultimate question is will the gauge take a direct signal from the sending unit, does the sending unit need power, and how would you power it? Probably need a helms manual or similar to see the wiring diagram or at least trace the sneding unit wiring on an auto truck.

I thought the same thing. It would be nice to see what the ZF is doing when towing. I figured with the control modules on these trucks, it would be easier to add a temp gauge to the "A" pillar.

What would be more important to monitor, the ZF or the differential?

that is the reason for the question,I want to get rid of the a-pillar gauges and put in a overhead gauge mount and they only come for two gauges.

as for what would be more important, I would say the tranny as it gets real hot, dealer put a tranny cooler on mine and it has a 200 deg. turn on point.

Wait until you see the temps when you start to pull some weight, 300+ here until I added STP.
Now 250 is the norm, scary ha.-:t
