My truck has less thaan 700 miles, it's been 18 to 22 deg out, at a steady 55 or 70 mph the coolant temp swing 2-3 marks on the gauge. It swing from about 192 to 204 and will go to 210 it I get on it.
Is this normal, This my first duramax and my point of comparison is my Tahoe which has a very steady temp gauge.
Thanks

Mine fluctuates as well between 190 and 205.

Tomc: I believe this is fairly standard. I also have the attitude monitor which displays engine temp. It will fluctuate from 181 degress to about 195 depending on driving conditions. I also see the big swing on the dash temperature gauge.

These vehicles cool off very fast in cold weather when they are not "working". From what I know the condition you describe is 100% normal.

Ditto what aka108 stated. Stock gauges blow! Later. JJ :)

You think ours suck? You ought to try Fords dummy gauges. Either on or off. Never move. I hated it. Did I say that out loud?

Thanks for the quick responses, I leave for the FL panhandle on Friday and I will feel much better about taking the truck.
This is a great site,
Thanks again

Same here, my LLY temp gauge moves around much more than my 2500HD 6 liter did. Did it from new and now has about 18K trouble free miles.
